Re: Burning hot motor driver chips.

Anthony, (...) Yes it sounds like it. (...) It does. The L293D still works after it cools off, doesn't it? (...) I suspect you are going to need more than just two piggy backed L293D. (...) You might have a look at Ben Wirz website, he sells various (...) (27 years ago, 9-Nov-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Burning hot motor driver chips.

After not doing anything with my HB for a few months, I decided to buy a cheap RC car and use it as a platform. Anyway, I get a car that takes 6 AA batteries because I figure that the main motor is probably 9v (maybe that was a faulty assumption). (...) (27 years ago, 9-Nov-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Shaft Encoders

(...) We used the line of "S1" optical encoders from US Digital Corp. ((URL) and found them to work superbly. The encoders are light (~.07 lb) and small (~1.7" x 1.3"). The company is a "Value Added Retailer" and adds housings/bearings/whathaveyou (...) (27 years ago, 8-Nov-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  IR devices

I recently opened up a mouse (the computer kind, not the live kind) and found what I assume to be 2 IR shaft encoders which it uses to translate the direction you are moving the mouse. Is there a way that I could remove them and turn them into shaft (...) (27 years ago, 7-Nov-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Shaft Encoders

Has anyone used an comercial optical encoder to monitor wheel velocity on their robot? Most of the ones i have seen use between 100 and 500 pulses/rev. This is a lot for the little software driven encoder routines to keep up with. I was just (...) (27 years ago, 6-Nov-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  UK SUPPLIERS OF PCBS

  setting config reg with Win95

We are currently building a dozen Handy Boards here at the Missouri Area Robotics Society (MARS). Everything is going very well for us, except for the members who are using Win95.
