  Re: Handyboard with EPROM

Yes, there is a pin compatible EPROMs and EEPROMs for the Handyboard's RAM chip. However, without the RAM chip the board is limited to the 256 bytes (or 512 bytes in some versions) of on-chip RAM which can be pretty limiting. Another option is to (...)   connecting (LEGO) motors

Hoi, I am still puzzled about connecting motors to the handyboard. I have seen plenty of motors wich draw less current then 600 mA. But still they have a couple of Amps stall current. Are the moter drivers chips protected for this ? Are all LEGO (...) (27 years ago, 21-Aug-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Books on bots

Could you post the names of any useful books you find? For that matter, can anyone else suggest some good (and affordable...) books? Particularly on elctronics in general, the 68hc11(a1), and infrared? thank you, -- Justin Kao <jkao@compuserve.com> (27 years ago, 21-Aug-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  external memory

Hi, has anyone been able to successfully added another 32k ram chip onto the handyboard? In MObile Robots, it mention that this was possible for the HC11-based boards. If so, how involve is it? (27 years ago, 21-Aug-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  compile ICB files under Windows

Hi all, it turns out that the answer for doing this has been available for two years (!) Kent Farnsworth put together a set of GNU compiler tools, Randy's modified AS11 assembler, and a DOS version of the "as11_ic" Unix shell script, all working for (...)   Books on bots

Hello All, Just doing some late night web searching and found some pretty good info. I clicked on the Barnes and Noble banner add and did a search for "robotics" and needless to say I'm still going though their list on this subject! I had no idea (...)   Handyboard with EPROM

Can I put a Rom memory in the handy board? I don't need a battery , so i think to remove that and the battery.   servos ?

Date sent: 19-AUG-1997 17:18:58 Hi, Could someone please give me a specific recommendation of a good servo to use for Lego robots with handyboards. I looked at TowerHobbies and robotShack and was overwhelmed by their lists. (I'm obviously just (...) (27 years ago, 19-Aug-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: interfacing motors

(...) One way to accomplish this is with an H-bridge motor drive other than the L293 on the HB itself. I one out of discrete components some time ago, using darlington TIP series transistors, and it works great. (Kudos to Chuck McManis.) It can (...)   interfacing motors

hello, all you happy roboters! /I have a question about interfacing a larger motor to the HB. It runs on 6v & draws 1-2amps, depending on the load. I already have a 6v 7amp lead battery that I want to use to power the 2 motors. What would be the (...) (27 years ago, 19-Aug-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  IR Transmitter

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone could recommend an IR transmitter for use with the Handy Board's IR output (J7). If possible indicate manufacturer/part no. or supplier/catalog no. if possible.   Muscle Wire

Hi - Has anyone ever tried using "muscle wire" (nitinol) with the Handyboard? When you pass an electirc current through it, it heats up and rapidly contracts. The wire has a fairly low resistance - would it still be OK to drive it with the motor (...) (27 years ago, 18-Aug-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  H-bridge stuff on-line

I've created a MOSFET version of my H-bridge that is pretty general purpose and with the addition of a small mezzanine board becomes an electronic speed control.
