  Strange HB problems

Over the past two days I have had two problems with my HB that I can't explain. Maybe you you can help. 1. I wrote a simple program to test out my motors that consists of the motor, sleep, and beep commands. Once in a while I get an error back while (...) Another note on soldering.. Heat control is VERY important.. Not so much being able to adjust the heat, as having a temperature-controlled iron. The "cheaper" irons get hotter or colder with the load (speed of soldering) as well as the room (...) (27 years ago, 19-May-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Soldering (fwd)

Often novices miss the single most fundamental point about soldering: you don't use the iron to melt the solder (99% of the time) -- you heat the component leads and let them melt the solder. To initially transfer heat effectively to the leads, a (...) (27 years ago, 18-May-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

(...) experience >at all with soldering. (...) become more >adept at this sort of stuff. And what type of solder should I use? Shane is right, you'll find using very thin solder works much better. Along with a fine tip, you'll want to use a low (...) (27 years ago, 18-May-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Soldering/ Second processor

The trick is to use THIN 60/40 solder with flux core. Around 0.71 mm thickness is good. (...) (27 years ago, 17-May-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Re: Vector 2x giving me lots of trouble...

Well, I seemed to have narrowed down the problem I was having with the Vector2x compass. It was functioning fine... All I had to do was write clean code that called comp_disable(1) at the end. When my code wasn't doing that, the compass IRQ routines (...) (27 years ago, 17-May-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  '97 Intel ISEF

This last week was the 1997 Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF), held in Louisville, Kentucky. While I don't have a list of winners/losers, I do have some things to say about it. There were five robots in the engineering (...) (27 years ago, 17-May-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Vector 2x giving me lots of trouble...

Hi all, I am having lots of trouble with the vector 2x compass. Sometimes it seems to work fine. Other times it just ouputs zeros (like someone else was saying...). I checked all the physical wiring, and that seems to be fine. The strange thing is (...) (27 years ago, 16-May-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)
