  Re: pressure sensors..

JM, I don't have the book in front of me but Mobile Robots, From Inspiration to Implementation has some info on just this subject. If you don't have it or can't get access to it let me know and I'll do some research for ya. For example if its touch (...) (27 years ago, 9-Apr-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: pressure sensors... antistatic foam

A viable option, depending on what sort of pressure is involved, is to put a thin piece of conductive (ie. antistatic) foam between two metal plates. The resistance between the plates ends up being roughly proportional to the pressure applied. It (...) (27 years ago, 9-Apr-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: running 2 IR

What you can do is just like the schematic for the built-in IR emitter circuit. You need to either software generate your wave or do it like the schematic. If software generated, this output would come from a output port on the HC11 to a transistor (...) (27 years ago, 9-Apr-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: pressure sensors..

James, You can get Forse Sensing Resistors, and you can use strain gauages, but I find the easies thing is to make a bag or balloon of the shape you want, connect a tube to it, and use a small air pressure sensor. These are very cheap and readily (...) (27 years ago, 9-Apr-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Sony IR

Could someone tell me what the signal from a sony remote looks like (freq, period, etc and how it is read by the sony-ir program distributed with IC) Thanks!! Tom (27 years ago, 9-Apr-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  pressure sensors..

hola all, I'm working on a project where I need to use a thin pressure sensor. Does anyone have any idea where I could look to find such a sensor. -james montgomery MIT '98 (27 years ago, 8-Apr-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  nonrobot HB applications.

I would be interested in seeing a list of applications that the HB is being used for other than small robots. thanks vic (27 years ago, 7-Apr-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: running 2 IR

You mean IR "emitters"? (IR LED) If i understand you correctly, you wish to source current with the digital outputs. The digouts are from the HC11. There can't source enough current to light IR LED's. ---...--- ericson mar Master of Engineering (...) (27 years ago, 6-Apr-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  running 2 IR

I want to be able to run 2 or 3 IR xmitters from the single output on the HB with no additional hardware.   handy board as VU meter?

I was just thinking the other day - could a handy board be made into a VU meter? (Digital readout on the LCD, or using the motor lights, etc.) Is it fast enough?   Re: analog header

Certainly the voltage follower will work. But I had a similar problem adjusting the sensitvity of a photocell that I solved by paralleling a pullup resistor of my own to get the proper impedance.   Re: Can the handyboard be taught to talk?

(...) Actually the SP0256 and the companion Text to Speech chip supported a 'serial' mode that was much easier to use (you could use the same software uart I just posted.)
