  Motor Problems

I left a email about my motor problem earlier this evening. Well, since then I have changed my code to use ports 2 and 3 and the bot worked just fine for a little while, then both 293 chips smoked. I guess I was drawing too much current. Anyway I am (...) (28 years ago, 6-Feb-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  "Old" (pre-6500) Polaroid sonar boards?

Has anyone done anything with the "old" Polaroid boards? (I've got some I pulled out of some auto-focus cameras I bought cheap many years ago.) I can hook them up and make them work by hand, and I've got one partially wired into a Handy Board, but I (...) (28 years ago, 6-Feb-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  IR sensor question

I have a very basic doubt regarding the working of the QRD114 sensor. If we connect the sensor as per the illustration in the handy board document, how do we make the emitter transmit IR waves? what will be the frequency of the IR beams (40kHz)? (...)   My motors quit!

Howdy, Well I finally got my bot to going and was hooking up the bump sensors. I had one plugged in and was seeing how it functioned when all of the sudden there was dead silence. My motors quit running. I have them hooked to ports 0 and 1 of the (...) (28 years ago, 6-Feb-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Downloading problems

The memory circuit is probably flaky, or, you zapped a 6811 address line output. If you haven't already tried, swap the 6811 with a known good one. If that doesn't work, examine the ram chip addr, data bus, and select signals with a logic probe when (...) (28 years ago, 5-Feb-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Downloading problems

After setting the CONFIG register, downloading the pcode never completes. We get anywhere from 0 to about 1600 bytes transferred, then an error. Everything has checked out to this point. Any hints? ***...*** * Greg Starr, Professor and Graduate (...) (28 years ago, 5-Feb-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Digikey. call 1 800 DIGI KEY. add 'QT-ND' to the part number and you get the digikey catalog #. -fred In your message you said: (...) (28 years ago, 5-Feb-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  SPI

Hi all- I remember reading something about an asynchronus serial routine at 1200baud using the SPI that was coming out in January. Does it exist? If so, how can I get it? Does anyone have anything that transmits RS-232 on the HB? I still want to be (...) (28 years ago, 5-Feb-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Polaroids

My design team would like to incorporate two polaroid sensors with our handy board. We were wondering just how do we send the INIT pulse from the HB to the Polaroid sensors? The member in charge of writing the code for our robot quickly drafted up (...) (28 years ago, 5-Feb-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  QRD1114?

In the documentation for connecting sensors and actuators to the HB a The Quality Technologies IR reflective optosensors (QRD1114 & QRB1114) were depicted in the example and recommended. Where can these sensors be aquired? Thanks JTW (28 years ago, 5-Feb-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: IR sensors

(...) Sure. We put "Front" on digital(14) and "Right" on digital(15). And you can have as many as you want that don't interfere with each other. We did something like... contact = digital(14) * 2 + digital(15) to get both sensor results into an (...) (28 years ago, 5-Feb-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Extra power supply?

I can't seem to locate the 'how to add a second power supply for a servo' information. I know I read it once, but now that I want to go back and use it of course I can't find it. (duh) Can anyone point me in that direction? Also I could use any (...) (28 years ago, 4-Feb-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Handyboard debugging problem...

One of the student groups in my Lego robot course is having a problem getting their Handyboard to work...they got IC to load successfully, then went ahead and installed U6 ('HC138), U9 ('HC04), U5 ('HC244), resistor packs RP1 and RP2, and SW2. Now (...) (28 years ago, 4-Feb-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Sample bump sensor routine

whether you use analog or digital ins, you don't need the 47k pullup because the hb already has one. just wire the signal line to ground through the normally open switch. bill, i suggest you write your program without using the multitasking (...)   Re: Sample bump sensor routine

(...) Why would you use the analog ports for a bump sensor? Isn't that just a contact switch? Tie to a digital port pulled high with a 47K ohm resistor, and have the normally open contact tie the pin to ground when the contact switch is closed. The (...)   Sample bump sensor routine

I am having trouble writing a routine for my bump sensors. Evertime I write a program I can't get the analog ports to initialize. I guess this is where you would connect bump switches isn't it. I can get my bot to go forward, turn, and go backward (...) (28 years ago, 4-Feb-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  re:IR sensors

Hi everyone, i was wondering if it's possible to drive more than one infrared LED (emitter) through the handy board and IC. Has anyone tried doing before??? i want to model the wall-following behavior in my car, by using emitter-detector pairs on (...) (28 years ago, 3-Feb-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)
