  laser diodes

Hi, Has anyone tried using laser diodes for detecting objects? I would be interested in finding out how they were connected and how they are read by the controller board. I am also interested in finding out what would be best. I have been looking at (...) (28 years ago, 11-Dec-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: IR relectance Sensors

(...) There may be a miscommunication here. There are IR Reflectance sensors, that are designed to note notches and bar codes and such, which have a sensing distance measured in millimeters, and there are IR receiver modules that were originally (...)   Re: ir obstacle detector

Is this because you used a "bright" IR led? Or perhaps the frequency is high, thus higher energy EM radiation? (...) (28 years ago, 10-Dec-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: ir obstacle detector

(...) Why is the distance do short? You can use a remote control for a TV or someting from really far away and even bounce the IR off walls. Doesn't that mean that you can do the same for a sensor? Or is it that the current generation of (...) (28 years ago, 10-Dec-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: IR relectance Sensors

I don't have the Flynn book with me currently, but I coulda sworn that I read about the Rug Warrior (or some other robot) "wall following behavior". I thought that this was accomplished by IR obstacle detectors. I was also under the impresion that (...) (28 years ago, 10-Dec-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  ir obstacle detector

This is the number of Radio Shacks fax service. I had bought the IR detector module part number 267-137 and on the back it said "For a complete data sheet call Radio Shack FaxBack at 1-800-323-6586 and request document #3313.   RE: IR relectance Sensors

(...) I checked out the web page, not all the software is loaded up yet... Looks just like what I was about to ask for, I've gotta hook a 6811 to a Vector 2X via SPI as well. Last I reported on my project, I had fried the Handyboard. The problem was (...) (28 years ago, 9-Dec-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: IR relectance Sensors

Those reflectance sensors are not made for detecting objects, they are usually used in something like a shaft encoder. So the 5mm is the useful range that they will have for that application. Not too useful for object detection. Digikey (...) (28 years ago, 9-Dec-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

I'm wondering you can piggy-back transistors to create a high amp H-bridge. Would this work? :) (28 years ago, 8-Dec-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  IR relectance Sensors

Where is a good place to get IR relectance sensors? Also, I'm having a little trouble comprehending some specs. What is the "sensing distance".   Headers

I can't seem to find the male and female headers in the Digikey catalog. Is the No. in the HB Tech Ref (929974-01-36-ND and 929834-01-36-ND) the Digikey Part No.? Perhaps someone can tell me a description. Is it English or Metric? Thanks. (28 years ago, 7-Dec-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  New Handy board question

Hi! Our board is fixed, thanks for your advice David. It was actually the circuit board holder vice that we were using to hold the board while soldering. Greetings, Thanks to all who replied. I downloaded dlm.exe and a new copy of pcode and it worked with the -256 option.
