It might be that it can - but you won't find any menus in RIS 1.5 program
that let's you use the software for the Scout - I strongly believe this will
be with a Scout version 1.5 (or 2.0 - depends). They still have to market
the Scout in Europe - and the DDK instructions say that the P-program will
be used together with other Scout products around Fall 2000. So best guess
is that programming features will be with the 'new' Scout when they start
making it available across Europe.
But your point is right - Lego should consider making updates downloadable
from the web - but considering that the new CD-ROM incl. additional building
ideas I think an update would be way to huge - but making the new RCX-code
elements/options available for download would certainly be a good and right
thing to do

| FWIW The LEGO shop, Bluewater, UK on Saturday had the following: RIS 1.0 RIS 1.5 DDK RDS The RDS box said it would allow connection to a PC with a future expansion kit, as we already know. They also had the Technics StarWars Battle Droid - about £20 (...) (25 years ago, 1-Nov-99, to lugnet.robotics)
