walker that turns? —Horacio J. Peņa
¡hola! Has somebody worked on a walker that could turn? Some ideas of how to do it? Thanks, HoraPe --- Horacio J. Peña horape@compendium.com.ar horape@uninet.edu bofh@puntoar.net.ar horape@hcdn.gov.ar (25 years ago, 30-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) I think I've seen four-legged walkers that turn the same way that a tank tread vehicle turns -- walk the two legs on one side forward and the other side backwards. Not the most efficient way to do this, but possibly the easiest to construct. (...) (25 years ago, 1-Nov-99, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) There are probably many ways for a walker to turn. A simple one is the "triple gait cycle hexapod", which can walk both forwards and backwards, in addition to turning either way.      (...) Well, this might not be very feasible, but how about a joint in the middle that bends left or right? Hence, the body is normally straight, and then bends to the left or right when turning? In terms of plausibility with Lego, you'd have to use (...) (25 years ago, 1-Nov-99, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) A non-Lego(TM) "Constructopedia" has been discussed before for just that purpose. The most promising work seems to be the Kego Constructopedia.    (...) it? ¡hola Horacio! Months ago I built a robot that used just two legs to walk, moving its own center of gravity from one leg to the other. It was actually unable to turn, but someone sugested that I could provide it with turnable legs for (...) (25 years ago, 2-Nov-99, to lugnet.robotics)
