Anyone have already tried making a differential gear transmission with LEGO pieces?
I'd really like to see it is done...

Hello, My name is Daryl, and I am a LegoManiac.
I have now applied the RCX to automate my Samurai's Stronghold for 'LE*Owars'.

Sad, I know.

To get 2 motors to work together to drive 1 axle in the vector you want, try a
differential gear transmission.  Basically, the input of 2 power sources (the
rotating shaft of the motor) is  'averaged' and the output is applied to the
main transmission.  The main effect is that now, two dissimilar engines can
work
together, making more 'torque', but, the output is 'very' regulated, giving the
opportunity of determining the position (distance traveled) of the 'bot by dead
reckoning.

I would be more interested in a differential made with standard Mindstorms/CyberMaster pieces, if that's possible of course. Laurentino Martins (...) (26 years ago, 18-Nov-98, to lugnet.robotics)
