The project that eventually became Mindstorms was started in 1987. In a
sense, that means 11 years of development.
Remember that LEGO was until recently a plastics company. Sometimes things
start slowly and pick up speed. Note that the Mindstorms add-on kits didn't
take 11 years to develop. :-)

| (...) Like, actively discouraging it? Or passively just not encouraging it? Either way that seems really unfortunate because I'm sure it'll be widely regarded as a canonical "Step 2" when getting started with MindStorms... Step 1: Buy one or more (...) (25 years ago, 1-Aug-99, to lugnet.robotics)
