For all of you who have dreamed (like me) of hooking up a video camera to
a bot, here's your chance. A company called X10 is selling something called
an Xcam. This is in conjuction with them giving away (for 5.90 shipping) a
product called the firecracker. The firecracker is a house automation system.
It turns on/off appliances, adjusts light switches/dimmers, and lots of other
cool stuff.
The bit we are interested in is ...
REAL TIME WIRELESS COLOR VIDEO.
WELCOME WIRELESS VIDEO INTO YOUR
HOME! HAVE A BLAST with the latest color
video technology from X10!
XCam plugs into VideoSender's transmitter to send
real-time video signals anywhere in the house!
Transmits through walls, 100' range!
Capture camera images on your TV, VCR, WebTV
or home computer!
Seems like we might be able to strap this to a bot. The only unfortunate bit
is this:
Retail value for XCam and VideoSender kit:
$349.99
BUT IF YOU ORDER BEFORE MIDNIGHT June
24th, 1999, you can get the latest in 2.4 GHz
video technology for just $149.99!
Anyway, you can check this out at http://www.x10.com/home/offer.cgi?~slash_dot
and if they ask who sent you, say you saw it on www.slashdot.org.
Cheers!
