    new products —S. Crawshaw
www.legomindstorms.com has got prices and pictures of various new items - most of which have already been discussed here. They are to be available "for the 1999 holiday season"... which means when?! (Easter?) For anyone who may be interested, here (...) (26 years ago, 24-Mar-99, to lugnet.robotics)

        Re: new products —Eric Brok
      S. Crawshaw wrote in message ... (...) I doubt it will even be *possible* to connect a second motor (see my previous post). (...) Let's hope it will have something extra to regular cams for the steep LEGO price. (...) I ordered it immediately from (...) (26 years ago, 24-Mar-99, to lugnet.robotics)

        Re: new products —Hao-yang Wang
(...) I got mine from S@H, with no ship/handling fee as usual. I found the Remote Control quite neat in testing my contructions, in particular when the RCX is deep inside the belly of the robot and becomes hard to reach. Hao-yang Wang (26 years ago, 30-Mar-99, to lugnet.robotics)

        RE: new products —Tilman Sporkert
So what can you do with the remote control, besides manipulating the motors, and starting and stopping programs. Can you read input from the remote control in your RCX program? Tilman (...) -- Did you check the web site first?: (URL) (26 years ago, 30-Mar-99, to lugnet.robotics)

        Re: new products —Hao-yang Wang
(...) The remote control can send the message values 1, 2, and 3 to RCX. You can program the RCX to react accordingly when it receives one of these messages. Hao-yang Wang (26 years ago, 30-Mar-99, to lugnet.robotics)

         Re: new products —Nick Taylor
Please fill us in on these two characteristics: directionality of both the RCX and the remote ...also, what range for reliable control? Thanks, - - - Nick - - - (...) -- Did you check the web site first?: (URL) (26 years ago, 30-Mar-99, to lugnet.robotics)

          Re: new products —Bryan Beatty
(...) The IR transmitter on the remote seems to be pretty powerful. Direct line-of-sight range appears to be about forty feet with RCX and remote pointed at each other. (I was using some pretty old batteries; I don't know whether that makes any (...) (26 years ago, 31-Mar-99, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) messages. (...) *ONLY* 1, 2 and 3? This would make sense if you could control three motors with three buttons, but you'll need two directions AND stop for comfortable control of each motor. (or one message to turn motor on/off, second message (...) (26 years ago, 31-Mar-99, to lugnet.robotics)

         Re: new products —Hao-yang Wang
(...) Maybe we can communicate with RCX via Morse code? :-) There are also five buttons to let you start any of the five stored programs. With the non-lego firmware, maybe we can use these five buttons for additional messages. Right now, for me the (...) (26 years ago, 31-Mar-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: new products (Remote Control) —Rob Doucette
This may be a big request ... Could someone do a web page with a scan of the remote control and list of each buttons functionality?? If someone sends me the image file and the text, I can do the web page. I'm still not clear on the robustness of the (...) (26 years ago, 1-Apr-99, to lugnet.robotics)

A picture is available at (URL) to "United States", Mindstorms, and scroll down. There's a small picture there. If you click on the part number, you get to a page with a larger image. Tilman (...) -- Did you check the web site first?: (URL) (26 years ago, 1-Apr-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: new products (Remote Control) —Rob Doucette
The bigger Lego World Shop picture isn't big enough to read the button labels. What I'd like to do is put together a full screen height jpeg of the remote with a feature table next to it. -Rob. (...) (26 years ago, 1-Apr-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: new products (Remote Control) —Robert G. Fay
The remote is really handy when checking your creations before you program them. I use mine all the time. Also fun to run little cars and other bots. Even used it to drive my 8448 Street Sensation about the house. Bob Fay rfay@we.mediaone.net The (...) (25 years ago, 10-Aug-99, to lugnet.robotics)

         Re: new products —Bryan Beatty
(...) Well, it does have direct motor control buttons for each of the three motors. Bear in mind that this is, after all, a $20 device. Doubtless they could have made it a lot fancier and boosted the price. Personally, I'm happy with mine. It lets (...) (26 years ago, 31-Mar-99, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) can (...) messages. _Only_ 1 through 3? Cripes, what a gyp. ...Though, on the other hand, it does make the creation of an RCX-to-RCX protocol easier, since there are only a few messages that should be considered suspect.
