That's a good list.

Counting the days...I feel like a lego junkie - I had to get someone from
work to get their child's s@h catalogue so I could puruse...

I did purchase several items myself from S@H and Pitsco.
I actually went with the S@H differentials kit (x2) part number 5229 • because
it offers a universal joint and an idler gear too.

What is the difference between an idler and a clutch gear? Is the idler the
one with no geared spoke? The clutch the one with the tolerence threshhold?

Getting some of the chain links from Pitsco #77937 is a great idea. • Their
kit has over 100 links in it.

Do you use chains alot?  For what applications?

my question is, does the TurboCommand come with any interesting suspension
parts, transmission parts, or other goodies that makes it worth the $60 • price
tag?  I dont' much care for the CD.  I just want to add it to the robots
building inventory if I buy it.

Well, see matt's reply for a seasoned veteran's thoughts, but from my
inventory it was a good set of parts considering:

I didn't have access to a pitsco ot s@h catalogue

ToysR'Us here has a very poor selection of Lego.  Western Massachusettes
needs like a lego superstore in my opinion - like down the street.  Open 24
hours maybe...

Now that I have my trusty catalogues, I'm pretty sure it was not worth the
money.  I have _never_ used any of the CD's from Extreme Creatures,
RoboSports, or TurboCommand. I think the CD's are supposed to add value to
the package...

Any way Steve - thanks for the detailed reply!! Let me know if you have any
other great finds or sugestions!

Kip

(...) I might not have the names correct but yes that's what I meant. The idler gear has no center teeth and the clutch will let go after a certain torque limit gets hit. (...) That's a good list. I too entered the LEGO world with Mindstorms and have been having lots of fun since Christmas. I've currently have some pretty heavy desires on getting an 8880 Super Car but I can hardly afford the $200 it takes to do it. My wife (...) (26 years ago, 10-Mar-99, to lugnet.robotics)
