There is no way that the RCX can explicitly start an upload, it has to be
requested by the PC. There is no problem however aquiring your goal with
messages or variables.
The best way I have found to achive your goal is to let the RCX signal to
the PC when it has a datalog ready for download. In my scanner
(http://www.mop.no/~simen/legoscan.htm) i have a variable in the RCX signal
that the datalog is ready. The PC polls this variable every second or so to
see if it has become a predefined value. If it is, the PC downloads the
datalog and signals that the scanner can commence with its scanning by
resetting the handshaking variable.
