Re: Asking for RIS 2.0 patch under Windows XP

Dear Luca, I got an email from Lego few days ago, seems Lego has solution for Windows Vista yet. You can ask him for free CD just write you probelm on official Lego site. Best Regards, Alan (...) (16 years ago, 26-Jul-08, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: NXT programming with Logo

(...) I used to use Terrapin Logo and MicroWords on the RCX. Haven't used either on the NXT. If only to get kids to think in a lambda-calculus programming language, I'd pop for fee based MicroWorlds. Unfortunately, the spirit is willing, but the (...) (16 years ago, 26-Jul-08, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Asking for RIS 2.0 patch under Windows XP

(...) That did it :) However I also installed the Ultimate Builders Set, which gives me a similar error, as well as complaining about a broken Quicktime installation. I saw on the Lego website that this is because of a recent Quicktime version, but (...) (16 years ago, 24-Jul-08, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Worm gear... whence the length?

(...) Hi Brian, obviously you are working hard on Nadar 2.0 :) Also read about your Little Joe free-fall on H.A.L.E and I wish you very good look with that! ;-) Two NXTs in one single mission is of great courage... For the worm gear issue I also (...) (16 years ago, 23-Jul-08, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Worm gear... whence the length?

Hi Brian, (...) I have used thin slices of LEGO corrugated tubes as washer for that. Works fine, but I can't guarantee it would work for a long time without wear... Philo (16 years ago, 23-Jul-08, to lugnet.robotics)

  NXT programming with Logo

I've been lurking with interest, teach intro robotics in middle school among other tech subjects, and wonder if any of you use the latest version of MicroWorlds EX Robotics, V 1.6, to program NXT robots. I just found out about that capability so (...) (16 years ago, 23-Jul-08, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Worm gear... whence the length?

(...) Neither. I actually purchased those from Mindsensors. They sell a thinner, flexible cable with NXT-style plugs. For the HALE mission (what this payload is aimed at - launch in 7 days or so), every gram counts, and I realized that at least in (...) (16 years ago, 23-Jul-08, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Asking for RIS 2.0 patch under Windows XP

I had this error message on a Vista system. RIS 2.0 worked fine the first time I ran it, but gave this error every subsequent time (even if I uninstalled/reinstalled it). Memory definitely wasn't an issue since the system had 4GB RAM plus swap (...) (16 years ago, 22-Jul-08, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Asking for RIS 2.0 patch under Windows XP

(...) I have just encountered this exact problem, but on Windows Vista. Did you find a solution? Could you please tell me what you did? Thanks in advance Luca (16 years ago, 22-Jul-08, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Worm gear... whence the length?

(...) Thanks Mark - those are nice designs. In my case I needed the precision, but I also needed a very compact implementation *and* it had to mount to an NXT motor: (URL) pretty happy with the design, but the slop really needed to be compensated (...)   Re: Worm gear... whence the length?

(...) Hi Brian, If you're struggling with worm gaps for your leadscrew, this pic of my crane worm gearbox might help: (URL) worm is two worms long, plus two pairs of old type (crennellated) half bushes (small pulleys) and an old type 14-tooth bevel (...)   Re: Worm gear... whence the length?

(...) That would make sense, but for the fact that the worm gear is ten years older than the gearbox that you cited. The only reason that the worm gear had to be made a tiny bit less than 2 studs long was so that when you put it between two TECHNIC (...)   Re: NXT-G print to text?

(...) Nice defense! I'm sure the NI engineers have anticipated the complexities you've mentioned. Hence, no scary print-to-text. However, I'm not asking for anything so ambitious. I hold that a print-to-text within the context of plain NXT-G (no (...) (16 years ago, 21-Jul-08, to lugnet.events.brickworld, lugnet.robotics)

Re: Worm gear... whence the length?

(...) True, with the caveat that the LEGO worm gear has only a single thread. Another way of putting it is that if you want to multiply align (stack) worm gears, the number of times the thread goes around the worm gear has to be an integer (or since (...)   Re: Worm gear... whence the length?

(...) The number of thread has to be an integer. If not, you could not been able to use multiple worm gear on a same axle. And the thread pitch is determined from the straight gears pitch. (which is something like nPi/m studs (n,m being intergers). (...) (16 years ago, 19-Jul-08, to lugnet.events.brickworld, lugnet.robotics)

  Re: NXT-G print to text?

  Re: NXT-G print to text?
