Does anyone have any practical experience using devices like the
Sharp IRPD with the RCX?
What do you use it for? What sort of range does your application
require? What sort of measurement rate is necessary?
If you haven't tried one of these things yet,
What would you use it for? What sort of range will your application
require? What sort of measurement rate do you need?
Thanks,
John Barnes

| John, Your absolute best bet is the Sharp GP2D12 because it outputs an analog voltage proportional to the distance to a detected object. However, it wants a Vcc of 4.5-5.5V so you'll need to put a regulator on it and use the well-known RCX power (...) (24 years ago, 17-May-01, to lugnet.robotics)

| Hi John, Yes, I've got practical experiences with these sharp devices. I've got three of them (GP2D12) and attached them to a little 6wheeled robot. They are "looking" forward. One straight forward, one 45° left, one 45° right. I can avoid obstacles (...) (24 years ago, 17-May-01, to lugnet.robotics)

| John, I am working on a setup that Rainer Balzerowski and Stephen Edwards havew talked about to allow for up to 15 sensor. My ideal design uses about 7 sensors. Two crossing in the front, Two crossing in the back One pointing to each side and One (...) (24 years ago, 17-May-01, to lugnet.robotics)
