Pretty neat Chris. You've very nearly recreated a special kind of optical encoder that was developed by my former employers called a virtual absolute encoder. I really cant make any comparison to batteries, ever since day one I've used Rayovac Rechargeable Alkalines. I bought two 4 packs for.. $6 each? and the recharger that only charges 4 at a time for another $8? I forget, bought it all around the (...) (24 years ago, 12-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Hi all, I haven't been able to find anything on the net about a Lego implementation of an orthogonal drive system using only motors (i.e. no pnumatics). Then you could use a touch sensor, and use the difference between the low spots and the high spots as 1 location. Do you really need to know the direction (...) Hi David, I have built a robot that does this for a university 'robot maze solver' project. My solution is big, ugly, very slow and pretty complex. It could probably be improved a lot if it was redesigned. However, it uses 3 motors (1 for (...) (24 years ago, 12-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Problems with the scout
 
I downloaded the program from RCX Command Centre to my scout. I then pressed run, but it didn't run the program. It wasn't to big because it was it was only 'On(OUT_A);'. Does anybody know what to do? TNX (24 years ago, 12-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics)

I am wanting to begin experimenting with web based control of the RCX using RoboLAB 2.0 but have not been able to find any information. Can anyone kindly lead to some resources? Chris, This idea would require an additional motor, but, an alternate approach might be to create your wheel with 36 alternating grey and white (perhaps by having a third or fouth shade/color you could have more information) segments.
