  Re: Programming languages

(...) I too would have tried LegOS if installing it were not so much like the more tedious computing chores I have to do at work everyday. Is there something intrinstically wrong with distributing binaries that will run on the most common platforms? (...) (24 years ago, 15-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Make a goal by the IR port on RCX

I am working on a robotic assignment with RCX by legOS. It is a small RCX vehicle that move around. I want to add a goal for this vehicle. Say, move towards a certain direction. However, all the 3 sensors port had been used up for some purpose. So I (...) (24 years ago, 15-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: What are all those lego companies?

(...) They are just product lines - and they all work together. Basic - Just bricks...LOTS of bricks. Technics - is regular Lego 'bricks' with the addition of gears and beams with holes and stuff - but no computers or sensors - and very few (if any) (...)   What are all those lego companies?

Hi there, I maid have some stupid questions (even if there is no such thing, only stupid answers exist), but I want to start my search of knowledge from the very beginning. I just ordered a RIS 1.5 and can't wait until I get it. I'm completely new (...) (24 years ago, 15-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Walkers

Some years back a couple of guys at work made a double inverted pendulum, which is like balancing another pencil on top of the pencil on your finger, though it worked in only one dimension. I don't know too much about it, except that they had (...) (24 years ago, 15-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Walkers

Hey good points! What if one took the motor driven pendulum idea and applied it to a gyro to produce torue counteracting the tilt from stepping forward? Good point about the distance to ground being nil for detectability, expecially if you want to (...) (24 years ago, 15-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: RIS 2.0 status

Excellent idea ! Has anyone tried to add an I2C interface to a u-scout ? My u-Scout just sits on the shelf... Hmmm. I'd be wiling to sacrifice it in the name of science if some one could give me some pointers : ) -Xanthra47 "Steve Baker" (...) (24 years ago, 15-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: RIS 2.0 status

(...) If not, does anybody know if preorders are being taken anywhere? :) I've been meaning to get to the Mall of America shop & ask them point-blank in person, but time has been short lately... Greg Betzel (24 years ago, 15-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Programming Languages

(...) This is not true. RoboLab is Mac/PC at the very least. The CD contains both versions. DAN (24 years ago, 14-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: RIS 2.0 status

(...) I wonder if that earlier date is correct for some parts of the world. We've seen the box artwork for the Japanese version of RIS 2.0 havn't we? Personally, I find it hard to get all *that* excited about it. The photos of the parts lists for (...) (24 years ago, 14-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Programming Languages

I've written a document summarizing all the options available for Linux that is available here: (URL) ignores Spirit.OCX and RoboLab, since they are windows only, but to the best of my knowledge covers every other programming interface that is (...)   Re: RIS 2.0 status

(...) Yeah, maybe this version will come with the voice-activated self-aware, self-programmable lego bots who will not only make my coffee to perfection each morning but serve it to me and tell me I'm a good robot-master! 8) brian (24 years ago, 14-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: RIS 2.0 status

(...) Hmmm... product delay? I wonder if they're not working on some new additions to the set. Kevin (24 years ago, 14-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Mac IR tower

In article (...) People have reported that a Mac modem cable with a DB25-DB9 adapter works with the supplied lego cable. People have also reported the Palm Mac adapter works. Neither of those worked for me on my beige G3. I ended up with a Keyspan (...) (24 years ago, 14-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Programming languages

I can only speak from experience about programming languages that use the standard firmware, since that's all I've used. *Spirit.OCX (I've used VB and J++): The worst way to program in the standard firmware. non-intuitive syntax (even if you replace (...) But how can that be? It says on their RCX 2 SDK page that all these people can choose to get the RIS 2.0, to be released in Spring 2001. (...) (24 years ago, 14-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  RE: Programming languages

What an interesting question, and I hope it solicits a comprehensive review from someone who has the breadth to understand and use them all. I use nqc all the time because it is SO easy. - thanks Dave! But, I would like the freedom offered by a (...) (24 years ago, 14-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Greg, You can get the correct cable from Pitsco-LEGO/Dacta or make your own without too much difficulty. Regards, Lon (...) (24 years ago, 14-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)
