  Re: Searching for alternatives

(...) The device drivers for the CIR port are being written right now - once those are done, you won't need assembler to drive the port. Since it's mapped onto /dev/ttyS<something>, it's pretty likely that NQC will need nothing more than a recompile (...) (25 years ago, 3-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Fw: Saw RCX brick at Goodwill

(...) I use it all the time with my RCX 1.0 - with the latest NQC, you really *need* that new firmware. Also, whilst it's still shown as being in Beta test, we know that RCX 2.0 is coming *soon* so we have to guess that the software is pretty much (...) (25 years ago, 2-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Searching for alternatives

(...) Right now you can use a spring board module that can is compatible with the Mindstorms IR. True it can only mimic what you can capture. But that's a start. I'm waiting on buying a hand held until one of them can use NQC and upload programs and (...) (25 years ago, 3-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Pneumatic tubing...

Ok, I am one of those people you are most likely thinking about. I have not found a Lego tubing that IS the same, but some stuff that works. First grab one of you 2" pneu. cylinders. Go to you local Lowes or Home Depot, ect. and go into the srceen / (...) (25 years ago, 3-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Searching for alternatives

Would you not lead him off-topic please!!?? There is no Springboard, nor any in the works for large quantities, that remotely allow you to control Legos from a Visor. The closest you can get is attaching the IR tower to its not-quite-serial port (no (...) (25 years ago, 3-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Text to Speech capability on the RCX

hi Ram, I wish to do the same. I was looking for the code used for programs like "PC-speaker", but I cant find the source code. So now I'm thinking of the following: Normal sampling gives much to large files for the RCX. With NQC or RCXcc you can (...) (25 years ago, 2-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re:Saw RCX brick at Goodwill

So, where is it in Michigan you said you lived ? =) I'm in Ohio, and i'd be more than happy to personally stop over and free your child of that nasty choking hazard - free of charge, even! =P -Gordon Original message from: "cbrenizer" (...) (25 years ago, 31-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

RCX 2.0's tower has a USB port

Or at least I hope it does... Does anyone have a good USB to serial adaptor that actually works well for my RCX 1.0? -- Richard Clemens clemens@wvwc.edu (25 years ago, 1-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Fw: Saw RCX brick at Goodwill

hmmm, downloaded the Beta but get a fail boot mode error when trying to update the firmware. the brick says rcx 1.0 on it and i'm running SDK on an NT machine, am heading to the archives to look for answers.. ...unless someone knows a quick (...) (25 years ago, 1-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  RE: Pneumatic tubing...

I measured some today, and I'd bet a micro scout that it's 4mm OD x 2mm ID. I suspect the material is actually polyurethane, although silicone would work just as well. It's easy to find the 4mm OD, but the 2mm ID is tough. I couldn't find anything (...) (25 years ago, 2-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)
