New Contest at BrickBots.Com - Aluminum cans are hard to stack

BrickBots.Com contest number two is starting a day early due to the upcoming U.S. holiday. The goal of the second contest is to sort a shuffled deck of playing cards into a black and a red pile as quickly as possbile. For complete details visit (...) (25 years ago, 22-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: cue cat

(...) I am sorry if there has been a major misunderstanding here. My point about cue cat was that it is a source of supply for free sensors, in terms of LEDs and phototransistors. I fully intended to take 90% of the guts and bin them! JB (25 years ago, 22-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: cue cat

(...) If I :understood the original :poster correctly, the :idea is to :disassemble the :Cat and :remove its light :sensor. I don't think the :idea was to use the :Cat directly. :Kekoa (25 years ago, 22-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Electric leads

I believe the 2 middle lengths are from Minstorms RIS. The longer ones are used in the 8480 Space Shuttle and the very short ones came in the Minstorms expansions (ie: Robo Sports and Extreme Creatures) as well as the smaller Z-nap sets.   Re: cue cat

(...) Here's what you'd need to know about the 'Cat... -The 'Cat operates as a keyboard wedge, i.e. it goes in the same port as the keyboard and behaves the same way. Directly connecting it to the RCX isn't going to happen (unless of course you know (...) (25 years ago, 22-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics)

Thanks! Yes, I meant the wires. Do you know which lengths came in Mindstorms? -John Van "Duq" <Duq@nlgateway.net> wrote in message news:G4E5uE.4zC@lugnet.com... (...) connectors (...) (25 years ago, 21-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.technic)

  Re: Electric leads

Guessing you mean the wires, I've got 4 lengths, coming from the Space Shuttle and Mindstorms: 15 studs, 20.5 studs, 70 studs and 164 studs, all including the connectors (2x2's).   Re: cue cat

(...) Not yet. I am still collecting. I want to try and build an array, if I get enough donations. If you are interested in single light sensors, I have two suggestions; A Cadmium Sulphide cell (like the sell in Radio Shack) is fine as a wide-ish (...)   Re: Which Palm?

(...) Sure you can! :) You can order a "serial" cable for your Visor from the following URL: (URL) Ordered mine about two weeks ago. My plan is to use it with my RCX as well as my GPS. (25 years ago, 21-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  RE: Which Palm?

Martin is right, the Handspring Visor uses a different connector than the Palm devices, and so they are not directly compatible cable-wise. You can get TTL level serial comms out of the Visor by hacking the USB cable they sell. Split open the (...) (25 years ago, 21-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  Electric leads

Can someone tell me the length (in studs, preferably) of the short and long electric leads? -John Van (25 years ago, 21-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.technic)

  Re: Which Palm?

The guy who does OmniRemote is a friend of mine (I had the springboard module before they were on the market, nyah nyah) :) and it was extremely non-trivial for him to support the IR, and it continues to be non-trivial to support (...)   Re: Which Palm?

(...) So is mine, but you can't plug serial devices in because of the different connector. If you want to control the serial tower with it, you should just get a used palm pro. If you want to ALSO use the IR on the palm, get a used palm pro with the (...) (25 years ago, 21-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics)

Have you adapted the sensor to work with the rcx, or have you just taken out the light sensor? If you have adapted it successfully, how did you do it? (...) (25 years ago, 21-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  RE: Which Palm?

I think you're exactly correct John. There has to be very low level control of the port. The trick, I suspect, is that the control may not lie within the Palm SDK (which I suspect fully supports only IrDA), but rather with machine coding of the (...) (25 years ago, 21-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  RE: Which Palm?

Something doesn't make sense to me here ..... IF someone sells a piece of software which allows the Palm to learn and speak "arbitrary remotese", then there has to be low level software control over the port. Doesn't that mean that who ever knows (...) (25 years ago, 21-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics)
