  RE: (furby)tizing

You might take a look around at (URL) or (URL) There is (was? they're a few years old) a fairly active hacking community. The autopsy theme alone is worth visiting the first site for.   (furby)tizing

Has anyone scrapped a furby for use with an rcx? There are many components inside furbies that would make good sensor components, tilt sensors, sound sensors, swithes, ect. Does anyone have thoughts on this and has anyone succsefuly taken apart a (...) (25 years ago, 7-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Gear spacings.

This may be more appropriate for lugnet.technic. There has been postings or listings of these before, but don't let that stop you. You should add the turntable gears (outside is 56t, I think) somehow. I also would rather see the vertical in mixed (...) (25 years ago, 6-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  Gear spacings.

I've never seen a table of allowed spacings between gear wheels. (For example, two 40t gears will mesh nicely if spaced apart by three studs horizontally and 3 and one-third bricks vertically). I wrote a little program to compute all possible (...) (25 years ago, 6-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Motorize Focus on Vision Command Camera

Hi Robert, (...) thanks for the pictures. One may call your design a bit untraditional and questionable, but on the other side it is a pragmatic and fairly compact solution. I tried to construct a drive made of a single tire meshed with the focus (...) (25 years ago, 6-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: AI in RCX

Hi! Sorry I missed out on the discussion... hope this is not too late to be of some use. I have to agree with Andy here. This type of thing is doable- not easy, but doable.   Cheap motors

Toys R Us in the metro NY Area (and elsewhere I suspect from the Ebay listings) is selling Znap sets on clearance. The motorized sets are going for $9.97 - far cheaper than the cost of a motor alone.
