Re: Pawl and rachet? -- slick!

Wow, this is very cool, I like the sliding-worngear principle, a neat hack -- and it's x2 more simplier than my design. :) Thanks for the help! (...) (25 years ago, 26-Oct-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  one motor- four diffrent axles

I had a great idea. I'm not sure if anyone has done this before, but I have found a way to make one motor drive four (or more) axles, individually! The downside is that only one axle can be rotated at a time and in only one direction, and I'm having (...) (25 years ago, 26-Oct-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Pawl and rachet?

Hello, I designed just such a drive, using worm gears instead of ratchets. It does, unfortunately, take a tiny amout of time to shift between moving forward and spinning in place. Perhaps it will meet your needs anyway. The relevant images are steps (...) (25 years ago, 26-Oct-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  Pawl and rachet?

Hello everybody again -- thank you all for the respones, sorry I haven't gotten back to some of you who emailed me privately, I've been swamped with work. I had some great lego sets recommended to me and I'm trying to find out where I can acquire (...) (25 years ago, 26-Oct-00, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: What is with the Technic Stormtrooper?

I am an AFOL because it is a very easy to use medium in which to construct and evolve mechanical devices - such as robotic platforms. I have bought a number of the older "high end" sets mainly to obtain the industrial quantities of parts that a true (...) (25 years ago, 26-Oct-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Infrared Ranging

Here is a program letting you play with InfraRed Ranging using the standard Light Sensor and the built in IR Communications Port. You can play around with the THRESHOLD value with 2 light sensors and see what kind of range and consistency you get at (...) (25 years ago, 26-Oct-00, to lugnet.robotics)

RE: Its a Bird! Its a Plane! No, its an RCX!?

Some ballpark numbers without thought to temperature and pressure. Approx lift for 1 Cu Ft helium = 1 Oz. RCX = 9 Oz. You might need two.... Motors = 2 Oz ea 4 (?) required Misc structure and balloon estimate 2 pounds? Total ( minimum ballpark) (...) (25 years ago, 26-Oct-00, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Its a Bird! Its a Plane! No, its an RCX!?

I was thinking of making a lego dirigible as part of an R&D project at my school. We came to the conclusion that we would need a baloon about the size of a small horse to get the neccesary equipment into the air. Though I still think that it would (...)   Re: Is Robotics Discovery Set good?

Hi, Bradley. As other people already told you, RIS is the most complete set. It is also the more expensive too. If you are looking for a cheaper and easier version, go for the Discovery set. The controller that comes with it, the Scout, has some (...) (25 years ago, 26-Oct-00, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.loc.ca.on)

Its a Bird! Its a Plane! No, its an RCX!?

Hey! Anyone thought about making their rcx airborne? I figure we can do it with helium(lots and lots of helium) or with a hot air ballon. You could set up propellers and use a skid steering system. Yeah it would be reeeeeally difficult but i think (...) (25 years ago, 26-Oct-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  Infrared Ranging

Hey. Does anyone know how i can accomplish IR ranging with my RCX? does the light sensor respond to IR? how does it work? lend a brother a hand... lol =] (25 years ago, 26-Oct-00, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Is Robotics Discovery Set good?

Hi I think RDS is the best to you, except touch sensor, you also can use external light sensor in Scout, you can do most thing that RCX can do.
