Hi, Bradley.
As other people already told you, RIS is the most complete set. It is also
the more expensive too. If you are looking for a cheaper and easier version,
go for the Discovery set.
The controller that comes with it, the Scout, has some limitations if
compared with the RCX from the RIS kit but you can still do a lot of things
with it. It's simpler to program since you don't need a computer. You can
still connect it to your computer for more advanced programming in the
future if you want. But you will need a infrared tower (not included) and
some programming skill. The software for the Scout is not that easy. A nice
accessory for the discovery is the remote controller. With it you can
control the scout like a RC car.
The droid kit is nice to look but the microscout has only preset programs.
The models are great but this is closer to a normal lego set than to a
robot. If you compare it to the discovery set, you can say the droid models
looks more like robots (R2D2, short circuit) but the discovery models really
act more like robots, since they give you more control.
I hope that helps! Good Luck!
