Hi, I have a few questions about the camera in the Vision Command set. Sorry if these are FAQs. Does it work on Windows 95? The box says that Windows 98 is required. Is it just me or do other people have problems when they build gear mechanisms sandwiched between technic plates? I tend to get noise, if not actual jamming due to the hub design interfering with the studs adjacent to the holes. Of course you can (...) (25 years ago, 13-Oct-00, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) My guess would be it's no where near bright enough to register. It's looking for a SUDDEN change from dark to LIGHT and back to dark... You'd be better off using the IR to trigger that. I'd vote that at half price, the Extreme Creatures set is a pretty good deal (full price is too much for the piece count), but mostly because of the fiber-optics--although I will say the Constructopedia pushes the user in the direction of (...) (25 years ago, 12-Oct-00, to lugnet.robotics)

I just came back from the St Jacobs Outlet Mall, near Waterloo Ontario, where I discovered a Lego Store. It is not associated with Lego (they say). However, they do have lot quantities of kits at reduced prices, so there must be some connection. (...) (25 years ago, 11-Oct-00, to lugnet.robotics)

Time to jump in.... The FOS uses a small surface mount LED. It's about 2.5mm x 3 mm and mounted to a thin PCB. There are what look like diodes and what I would guess are current limiting resistors on the board also, so good luck trying to have (...) I have noticed a number of comments about the RCX byte code system, including this thread, which would like to see some sort of datalog read function. (...) Yes. Of course. Those are the best ones. LED's are basically just Diodes that make light. So you can "Twist" two LED's together to get one on each polarity. (...) Yes. Radio Schlock has a few: orange, definitely (but I think it's one of the 10mm "jumbos", so it wouldn't fit). And I'm pretty sure they have green in smaller sizes. (...) If you don't use a tiny ultra bright one you won't get much... Also, the circuit it the thing is already making sure the power flows to the LED one way. So you'd have to disable that as well if you want the multicolour LED's. My favs are the (...) Has anyone cracked opened one of the FOS units? What is the light source? I assume that there is only one light source that is somehow distributed by the rotary action.
