  Re: BrickOS issues

(...) The brickOS team thanks you for mentioning this. It is our goal to continue to simplify this experience. We always enjoy hearing that we are making progress. (...) We hear you and have addressed some of them... (...) This is intentional for (...) (23 years ago, 23-Oct-02, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

  Re: Project WIRRL Update

I have used the Radiometrix BIM-433-F transceiver which is sold via the usual elecrtonics catalogues. It's a 433MHz half-duplex transmitter/receiver (34x23x8mm) at 56 UK pounds. We tested it in a stone building and found we could just communicate at (...) (23 years ago, 23-Oct-02, to lugnet.robotics)

Battery drain just to run a program?

I built a simple clock that displays the minutes and seconds on the LCD and chimes the hours by striking a triangle (the musical instrument) by running a motor for 20 thousanths of a second, as suggested by the Drummer example in the Farrari book. I (...) (23 years ago, 23-Oct-02, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: brickOS & GNU Pascal

(...) Personally, I think this is great. If a GUI can be developed for BrickOS, it will be a huge boost to BrickOS, because it should be MUCH easier for people to use it. Between this, the DJGPP compiler Ed's working on, and the whole new surge in (...) (23 years ago, 23-Oct-02, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

  brickOS & GNU Pascal

This is extremely preliminary, but I can't wait to share the news. I've managed to build a Hitachi H8 cross compiler for GNU Pascal (under cygwin on W2K) and have successfully downloaded and ran the following Pascal program on brickOS. program (...)   Re: Another update for WIRRL

(...) I guess that's because of regulatory issues. Getting anything with radio transmission approved for all countries Lego wants to sell in can prove a daunting task... And IR can prove very effective: did you try Spybotics remote control? it (...) (23 years ago, 23-Oct-02, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Another update for WIRRL

I should have removed the word "messenger". After all, doing something by "proxy" would imply a messenger-type role. What I meant was, for DeviceA to send a message to DeviceB, they would have to use some sort of proxy or router between them (the (...) (23 years ago, 23-Oct-02, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: What version for my rcx 1.5?

(...) The brick version doesn't really mean a lot (other than that version 1.0 bricks had the external power jack). If you download the firmware from the 2.0 SDK then your 1.5 brick is an RCX 2.0 and it will work perfectly well with NQC, BricxCC (...) (23 years ago, 22-Oct-02, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

  Re: Another update for WIRRL

What's a "proxy messenger"? Couldn't the reflection problem be solved by placing a barrier in between the emitter and receiver? Timothy (...) (23 years ago, 22-Oct-02, to lugnet.robotics)

  Cracking open the RCX

I had a link to the schematics and working on an RCX, I thought, but I can't find it. We have an RCX that's "A" motor port is malfunctioning. If it's a loose connection, we'd like to re-solder it. Anybody have a link to nice, clear pictures of what (...) (23 years ago, 22-Oct-02, to lugnet.robotics)

  RE: Another update for WIRRL

Just in case people are a bit confused by the schematic, the circuit would be needed for each device that will participate in an RF bridge. I abandoned the idea of using two different frequencies because: 1) As soon as you attempt communication (...) (23 years ago, 22-Oct-02, to lugnet.robotics)

What version for my rcx 1.5?

Hello, I am starting to look at my mindstorm again. It is version 1.5 and I have prev. used NQC and RcxCC. What should I use now? How about the new sdk 2.0? Can I use that one? Can I use the new versions of NQC and RcxCC? Hope someone can bring me (...) (23 years ago, 22-Oct-02, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

  Re: Update for DJGPP version

  Re: Another update for WIRRL

I'm watching your postings with some interest as I'm also very interested in implementing are wireless RF<->IR interface for the RCX, and have been eyeing the Linx transmitter/receivers too. One question - could some of the transmit/receive (...) (23 years ago, 22-Oct-02, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Another update for WIRRL

Instead of worrying about the half duplex communication, wouldn't it just be easier to have tranceiver at two different frequencies? If I am missing something, go ahead and say so. I know very, very little about electronics. Timothy (...) (23 years ago, 22-Oct-02, to lugnet.robotics)
