  Re: NQC 2.0.1, MacNQC 2.0 b2 released

The Keyspan adapters are still a bit of a grey area. I've had several reports of them working just fine, and one report of it not working at all. I'm still trying to isolate this problem (which affects NQC and presumably MacNQC). The tweak in MacNQC (...) (26 years ago, 7-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.nqc)

!!! Laser attachments for Mindstorms !!!

Hi all, I am selling laser modules for Mindstorms. The modules are two 2x6 lego bricks one on top of the other with a plate on the bottom. It has a wire with a lego power connector on the end attached to one end, and the laser sticks out about 1mm (...) (26 years ago, 8-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: !!! Laser attachments for Mindstorms !!!

Forgive my ignorance with respect to robotics and the like but what would you do with a laser? Is it used for guiding the robot or can the RCX detect when the beam is broken? I don't assume it is used to zap dirty dishes from the dinner table. <g> (...) (26 years ago, 8-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: !!! Laser attachments for Mindstorms !!!

Yeah. In can't think of anything that a laser could be used for. Unless you had reflective walls and could use it as a range finder. Sort of like an ultrasonic range finder, only with light. I wonder if the timing could be done fast enough. Andy (...) (26 years ago, 8-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics)

RE: !!! Laser attachments for Mindstorms !!!

I think a laser would be very useful for vaporizing pesky obstacles, I'd like mine to be a CO2 @ 50 Watts please....Blue bricks would be just fine :>)) Seriously, a laser might be an interesting source of light for a homing beacon. Lasers are very well, and make cool toys. My cat loves to chase the little red spot on the carpet! Maybe the robot could use the laser to draw spiro-graph designs on the wall, I'm not sure if the motors could position the beam that fast though. Joel Shafer joel@connect.net (26 years ago, 8-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics)

  GP2D12 and Handyboard

Hi all! I recently got hold of a sharp GP2D12 ir range sensor (The analog version, not 8-bit serial) Upon connecting it to my handyboard (Vcc-5v, Gnd-Gnd, and Vo to analog port) I get between 249 and about 251 value from the analog port.
