Re: Better Color Balance with Lego Bricks

(...) Hi Ray, How does having a color chart help provide a better color balance? Do you take pictures with the color chart in them, and edit it out? Or is it just a reference pic to help get the colors right when editing? Jeff J (23 years ago, 29-Jan-03, to lugnet.publish.photography)

Better Color Balance with Lego Bricks

For some time now, I've had issues with my dorky little Kodak digital camera (4 years old) and getting the color right on some lego ABS pieces when they are the only non-white color on a white background. Red is particularly bad, as the Image / (...) (23 years ago, 26-Jan-03, to lugnet.publish.photography)

RE: Here is some Photography help!

(...) I've found that if good light sources are not available, you can still get a great picture if your camera has some manual settings. An aperture of f5 to f8 or so will keep the entire model in focus while still blurring the background. With a (...) (23 years ago, 20-Jan-03, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.publish.photography)

  Here is some Photography help!

I have been listen to several mechers saying that they need to better their digital photography skills. Well, I had some free time today, so I found some good helpul info for them.   Re: need camera advice.

(...) I was just about to say that. Saying that anything less than a 3MP camera and you won't be happy with the quality is a little absurd. Considering that most people will post at maximum 1Kx7 images which are sub 1MP. However...it's not just the (...) (23 years ago, 4-Jan-03, to lugnet.publish.photography)

(...) Hello Jonathan, I have a Nikon Coolpix 800 (3.3 MP with macro function) and it's outstanding for photographing LEGO® creations.   Re: need camera advice.

(...) Those features sound similar to what I have (a several year old Olympus) and I'm perfectly happy with it. Even 1.3 megapixels (1280x1024) is more than you need for photographing LEGO models. 640x480 is about the right resolution for publishing (...)   Re: need camera advice.

Now, wait a minute. Not everybody can get $400 cameras for Christmas, and not everybody can afford to spend an extra $200 or $300, The camera costs about $100, but the reviews I found are great, they say that it's 'good for it's price.' 1.3 (...) (...) Jonathan: Honestly dude? Return it... trade up to at least a 3.3, otherwise you probably won't be happy with the quality. 3.3's are going for like $299 now and usually come with 2x optical zzom, and at least 6x digital xoom.   need camera advice.

I just got a new digital camera for XMAS. Its a Concord EYEQ Duo LCD. It says its 1.3 megapixels, 2x digital zoom, 9.9mm f/3.2 It doesnt have an optical zoom on it at all. Clouds are tricky. I haven’t figured out the best way to render them yet, but take a look at this pic: (URL) that type of “cracked and craggy” planet is a lesson by itself—I’ll get to that in another post. Anyway, for those clouds, what I did was: (...) (24 years ago, 20-Sep-02, to lugnet.space, lugnet.publish.photography)
