You didn't, by any chance, read through the rest of this thread, did you?
If you did, you should be aware that the specific reason for having the "right
to distribute" clause in there is so you can't come back and sue them for
royalties for displaying something that you voluntarily submitted. It's
generally meant more as a "cover my butt" measure than as a "screw you"
loophole, and the wording has been vastly improved since this thread was first
started. The bit about being able to republish it is generally included so the
website can use your IP in presentations to potential advertisers (since they'll
often want to see examples of content before they commit to an advertising
contract), not so they can go publishing books without having to pay you
royalties for photos that you posted (not that online photos will look good
after being transfered to print medium...).
