(...) Well, no. Dismasting a ship was probably the easiest way - the opposing ship couldn't manuever to make an effective broadside while you can. You don't do that with grapeshot. For most countries' fleets/ships/captains the whole point of shooting at an opposing ship was to disable it, board it and force the crew (or what was left of them) to surrender. It's a beautiful ship. I'm impressed. Not only is it an actual merchant ship (they tend to be too rare, since most ships are pirate or military), it's very, very pleasing to the eye.
