Damn, I just checked out from the catalogue and noted that I made a mistake
at the outset and throughout in our discussions.  The one I have and which I
said I personally prefer it to 6286 is 6289, which was re-released by
Lego.com and is the only one I have.   I just noted that 6286 is another
more giant one! Very sorry about that.

So among all, 6285, 6286 & 6289, what is ur priority of preference?

Mine is (1) 6286, (2) 6289 and (3) 6285.  (Bear in mind I only got 6289 and
therfore my comparision is probably biased.

Envy so much you guys having able to get these great fleet when they were
released in the 90's!

P.S. Before I always think that there is not much room for building your MOC
for pirate ships as compared to castles.  But I have to say that I was wrong
after I visited Tom Reed's pirate site.

Hello to all pirate fans,

I am not a senior Lego collector and missed the good old days where the
pirate sets are available. Therefore I can only buy them in ebay.

It seems most of the pirate fans like the 6285. But personally I like the
6286 more as it's a more giant fleet and probably I like the sail with a
skull more than a simple white/red sail. What do you think?

I agree with you about the 6286, Jackie!  I personally like that model
better than the 6285 model.  To me it's more interesting and looks grander!
But I would rather have the 6285 ship for parts to build with.  The hull
parts are all brown (where the 6286 is red and brown).  The sails can be
used for both pirate and nonpirate ships.  You get 4 white lattice windows
compared to 1 yellow one on the 6286.  And I like the red cannon flaps over
the green ones.  I hope the 6285 gets picked for rerelease!  Maybe one day
we might see them rerelease the 6286 too.  Wouldn't that be great?
cheers,
Tom

(...) I would rank them this way: (1) 6286, (2) 6285 (3) 6289. The 6289 was my first large ship to purchase. I can understand why you might prefer it at the moment. Wait until you build your first 6286 or 6285! Those are great models to put (...) (22 years ago, 31-May-02, to lugnet.pirates)
