You're absolutely right about all of this, of course. Bison County is an
ideal meeting place for a lot of reasons. In fact, just yesterday when I
was telling my wife that they have a private room that we can reserve
without (explicitly) paying for, she was astounded. I also didn't mean to
belittle your contribution to the org when you make the arrangements for us
there. Your efforts are definitely appreciated!
What I was more trying to say is that I think they probably make out pretty
well off of a NELUG meeting, so I would hope that they'd be somewhat
accomodating if we told them that their "formula" works for us the way it is
now, but that it might not if they changed it significantly. We could also
perhaps accomodate their needs by asking them if there is a particularly
"slow" night of the week or a particular time slot that would be least
disruptive to their normal business that we should try to schedule our
meetings for. For example, if the place is usually dead on Tuesdays, or if
they would prefer for us to start at 8:00 instead of 7:30 to give their
dinner crowd more time to clear out... The best business arrangements work
out to the satisfaction of all parties.

Well, she already KNOWS it's a cult. We have our ABSolute SYSTEM of
beliefs, our own secret language, communal property... We even rigidly
respect and follow the Word Of Todd (see:
http://www.lugnet.com/admin/terms/agreement) If you substitute "Guiness"
for "Kool-Aid", and "barbecued spare rib" for "cookie", you've pretty much
described the typical NELUG meeting.
I'll see you at the temple!

| (...) Ack! I don't see "reserving the room at Bison County" as a "contribution to the org". It's just a phone call. No big deal. I mostly just meant that if they did get so uptight about the room that it became utterly impossible/impractical to meet (...) (24 years ago, 18-Dec-00, to lugnet.org.us.nelug)

| (...) Heh. Well, that was part of their new regime- I had to call back to talk to a specific person (she wasn't there when I called the first time). Perhaps this is actually something that in some small way was set in motion by the last NELUG (...) (24 years ago, 18-Dec-00, to lugnet.org.us.nelug)
