  broken RCX

Some of you may have been aware of my "posessed" rcx. It was a little screwed up. When I powered it on, sometimes it would just start up motor output A for no reason at all. It would run motor A indefinitly if I let it. Sometimes running a program (...) (20 years ago, 4-Feb-06, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

LEGOLAND Master Model Builder Competition.. again!

Somehow this article didn't get to this newsgroup among all the others it was crossposted too. I think it's relevant to this group though, so here it is: (URL) cool! Anyone interested in trying out? I think I might do it just for the fun of it :) I (...) (20 years ago, 2-Feb-06, to lugnet.org.us.lugola)

  Re: Maze robot testing

(...) What will happen if you hit a big (1/4 inch) bump in the wall? Will it stop you? The walls are very smooth. But, there are places where they join together. Here are some old pictures Kerby posted: (URL) close at this: (URL) field is made of 4, (...) (20 years ago, 2-Feb-06, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

  Re: Maze robot testing

Thanks for the suggestions/advise guys. I remembered the concerns about the uneven surface, but had not thought of the surface friction causing problems. I will have to think some more about how to overcome that. One other inquiry. Does anybody know (...) (20 years ago, 2-Feb-06, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

  Re: Maze robot testing

(...) The only time I ran it I used 1x4's and tested in a "U" shape (both clockwise & counterclockwise) on my kitchen floor. This worked great, until event day when the floor friction fouled me up (I may have to cobble up a test system like Bryan (...) (20 years ago, 1-Feb-06, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

MINI LEGO Event in San Diego, CA March 3rd to 5th

Sorry for the short notice. I've been asked by a local Science Fiction/gaming convention to organize a LEGO room for the con. Sort of a mini LEGO convention. The Convention is "Condor XIII" (URL) March 3rd-5th. Just over a month from now. There'll (...)   Re: Maze robot testing

(...) John - the surface of the NEIRG maze is 1" thick blue insulating styrofoam. It has a different friction characteristic than other surfaces...As I am sure you know, this is important for turning. I built my own 3 foot x 4 foot test area and use (...)   Re: Maze robot testing

(...) Greg pointed out the simplest shape which will test out most of the turn combinations is a '4' (with an open top). That's just 3 walls, two are 12"x12" and one is 12"x24". Remember, the walls are 12 inches high and 1/8 inch thick, and each (...) (20 years ago, 31-Jan-06, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

  Maze robot testing

I've been thinking about putting together a maze robot for NEIRG. Last night it went from "thinking" to "doing" as I built a prototype. Now I'm wondering, how do I test thing thing? I've never really spent much time making a maze running robot, and (...) (20 years ago, 31-Jan-06, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)
