I've finished the reed sensors for the Trolley line. Work fantastically!

I've also finished the reed sensor for the Hogwarts. Not so good.

In my tests I used a single car to test the sensor to make sure the
magnet couplers did not set off the sensor while the intended one did.
Worked well. Now, however I tried a string of cars and AHHH, when two
magnets are together they trip the sensor!

Most nasty. I'm attempting to dampen the sensors ability while making
sure it works for the intended use...

If anyone has any ideas how how to identify a train (amongst others) I'm
all ears...

Hi Dean,

where did you put your sensor? In my automated station I used reed sensors
to tell passenger trains (which have to stop) from freight trains. I cased
the sensors into hollowed 2x4 bricks and placed them in the side walls of
the platforms, one for each track. Then I inserted a magnet on the side of
passenger trains: they trigger the sensors, the magnet couplers don't
(they're too distant).

I had the sensor in the center of the track on the bottom. Didn't work too
well.

I've since asked that it be moved to the side where it can be triggered via
the side. I'll be doing testing today on that.

Dean

(...) Dean, I've put a magnet mounted in the middle of the first car (not the engine or tender). It's vertically just above the wheel hubs halfway between the bottom of the car and the top of the track. The face of the magnet sticks out ever so (...)
