  Weeping Willow

Robin, in regards to your 'tree'. What would you like the settings to be? ie, shaking, stop or wiggle or whatever it does... etc... I'm going to tie it into the Switch Track RCX. Dean (23 years ago, 22-Jul-01, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

  Re: Weeping Willow

(...) First of all, it's a "Whomping Willow", and it doesn't shake or wiggle, it "trembles with rage and anger" at anyone who comes near! ;-) Therefore, I think that if you timed it so that when the train rolled in, just turn on the power to that (...)   Re: Weeping Willow

(...) Just want to add: I've left some room inside the mountain's left part to put/hide the RCX. The wires can run out of the tunnel and under the track to whatever they need to connect to. If that's not good, let me know and I could find another (...) (23 years ago, 23-Jul-01, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

  Re: Weeping Willow

(...) Great! Where is the hole or is it completely hidden? Can you leave a little hole facing the middle of the layout so that I can IR it commands without having to remove it each time? If the hole was 6x3 that should be fine. (6 long, 3 high) the (...) (23 years ago, 23-Jul-01, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

  Re: Weeping Willow

(...) I know... heh heh. I was being elusive. ;-) (...) where is the tree in relation to the station? Does it activate before or after the stop? Dean (23 years ago, 23-Jul-01, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

  Re: Weeping Willow

(...) The "left" part? The RCX will be needed up at the top right part. That's where the Hogwarts switch is (well, closer to it anyway), and the Willow will be located just to the left of the mountain ridge, behind Hogsmeade station. Shouldn't the (...)   Re: Weeping Willow

(...) I plan to put it behind (below) the station about 20 studs, near the mountain side. If the RCX was in that ridge, the wire would reach no problem. If you timed it to activate roughly at the time the train would be pulling in, or perhaps just (...) (23 years ago, 23-Jul-01, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

  Re: Weeping Willow

(...) The RCX must be on the south west corner of the mountain near the switch track and sensors since it must control 4 devices down there. Yours can be anywhere since it's just a motor and you can put more then one connector together to make (...) (23 years ago, 23-Jul-01, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

  Re: Weeping Willow

(...) I'm still a little confused here. There are no switches at the southwest "corner". Do you mean the southeast? What switches are you controlling there? (...) D'uh ... didn't think of that. I really have to start getting more sleep at night. (...) (23 years ago, 23-Jul-01, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

  Re: Weeping Willow

(...) Crap, I meant North East, sigh... I had the map upside down. I can't believe I did that... (...) Heh, that's ok. It seems we were both asleep on this issue. Dean (23 years ago, 23-Jul-01, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

  Re: Weeping Willow

(...) Ok, now that we've got all our directions sorted out, I've found a new location for the RCX. :) It's inside the northern-most piece of mountain. The hole for IR commands faces east, towards the rest of the layout. You can also run wire out (...) (23 years ago, 23-Jul-01, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

  Re: Weeping Willow

(...) Great. Here's what will need to get to and from the RCX. The power cord (Same as a train Power plug) one wire going out to the Sensor east. Another sensor inside the mountain (so we know when the train has cleared the switch) A motor wire (...) (23 years ago, 23-Jul-01, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

(...) Snicker... Dean (23 years ago, 23-Jul-01, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

  Re: Weeping Willow

(...) Ok I think I've left enough room for all of the above. But why do we need a (motor?) wire running to the track? Also, I'm not quite clear as to the sensor you're talking about... Do we have to place it inside the mountain? Perhaps the dry-run (...) (23 years ago, 24-Jul-01, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

  Re: Weeping Willow

(...) If you want the train to stop at the station you must isolate the track and run it by the MS. (...) There is one magnet sensor before the switch track. And there is a light sensor just after the switch track. (...) Yes. I have 7 more sensors (...) (23 years ago, 24-Jul-01, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)
