Looks cool!
One question: Where's the RCX? :)
I think it will be a real challenge lugging around an RCX while still being
able to traverse joints. Speaking of joints, do you think there will be any
T's, or just elbows. Getting a device to drive through a series of pipes and
elbows shouldn't be too hard since there would only be one path. But if
there are multiple paths the robot has to make decisions and somehow have
the ability to open in order to drive along the chosen route. This sounds
like it would be VERY hard.

Hey folks,

John Guerquin came by this afternoon and we went over to the Home Depot,
buying some 1.5" PVC pipe and some 45 deg joints.  Total cost for 12' of
pipe and four joints?  $10- tax inclusive.  Anyways, we decided to build
some ideas for pipe racers.

Here is the fruit of our efforts:
(You'll need MS Media Player AND Quicktime.  Don't ask. I don't know why)

Note, you don't see this vehicle actually traversing a joint, but at least
you can see that an hour of tinkering between John and I came up with a
machine that can climb up a slope.  It split like an onion when it hit a
joint, but that'll come with time.

So, a preview to get you guys thinking for rtl14: Pipe Racers.

(...) It's really quite fun--part of it is because it's in 3D vs the usual 2D building we do (ie, wheeled/tracked floor based vehicle) and at that, you have to work at any angle (because the pipe is 1D, but you can approach the joint at 360 (...)
