Hi Iain,
I have hiked my area of the Bruce Trail often. I purchase the handbook, due to
the fact that the other people I hike with have a terrible sense of direction
(me? I never get lost- okay I lie, moving along).
Now while I whole heartily would love to see everyone sponsor the Bruce Trail
Association, the cost of the book ($45.00 when I got mine in 97) seems a bit
prohibitive if you just want to traverse a very small section of the trail.
Considering the book has 40 maps and covers 782 km.
You may find your local library has it for reference, or the Halton Conservation
Authority may have a local map that shows the trail or even one of the tourist
info spots in that area.
For hunting, hiking and old cemetery plot searching I buy most of my local
topographical at a local Outfitters or well stocked book stores, (and some of
the Canadian Tire stores will order them for you). Keep in mind, some of the
topographical maps will show trails but be warned, not all will.
I'm not that familiar with that part of the trail, but a quick glance through
the guide book and I think I found the section you are referring to. If you
have no luck finding a local copy send me an email and maybe I could provide you
the info you need to get to that area.
