Is the Metroliner set a good one as a first train set? It says it has no
regulator...what does it come with then? How does it run?
Alternatively, is there a better suggestion for a first train set ($ are a
factor here...)
Thanks,

| (...) The Metroloiner is a decent set and it would be wise to pick one up before it disappears again. The set does require a regulator which is not included. They can be gotten cheap on ebay or bricklink. Lego sells them for $40 but they can be had (...) (21 years ago, 17-May-04, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

| (...) The Metroliner is a great set, and probably the best one that's out there right now, but you are right it doesn't come with a regulator. It does however come with a motor. This makes it a good second set. I would recommend getting something (...) (21 years ago, 17-May-04, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

| (...) I think it's a question of what you want to achieve: -Do you want a set of all the "train pieces" so you can build your own? -Do you want a nicely rounded set which stands on its own? If it's more of the former, then there's clearance 4561's, (...) (21 years ago, 18-May-04, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

| NO, the metroliner is a ~BAD~ set. STAY AWAY from all train stuff like the plague!!!! you'd be better off spending your hard earned $$ on a set that will ~DO~ something. oh sure, others will tell you that a motorized layout can do(?) something. but (...) | AND if you are thinking of buying a 10001 you want to check out the market forum on LUGNET since there is an offer to get one for 30%, or 2+ for 50% OFF direct from shop@home. NOT bAD PRICE!!! (21 years ago, 20-May-04, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

| (...) Oh, didn't mention that if you need a speed reg. I have at least 6 right now. So I'll give you one if you need it. THe only thing I don't have any spares of is the actual track connector. THink you can get one from S@H though. Still cheaper (...) (21 years ago, 20-May-04, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)
