Another competition idea: rtlToronto 14.5: Do you Mock me, Sir?

No, but really: rtlToronto 14.5: Do you Mock me, Sir? We each build a robot. They are placed into an 8' square (241.9 cm square) arena. They have 3 minutes to mock one another. They are judged on style, wit, and sophistication in the physical and (...) (22 years ago, 9-Dec-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: More contest ideas...

(...) Good idea in principle, but how to protect the electrical components of the Lego? I mean, we could use something non-polar like benzene, but... Plus it could get messy. And if we're doing messy, I say we should do my "Let Them Eat Cake"* (...) (22 years ago, 9-Dec-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: Steve H

(...) I think that may be like the "sumo event" of rtlToronto: Beating Chris. Everyone can do, just try! :) (...) We usually do the former, I'd like to think. Problem is, people in our group often will drive the former into the latter. ie, take a (...) (22 years ago, 9-Dec-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: Things I think about

(...) Yeah, but the storylines... the storylines!!! My God man! What are ya doin' ta me! Not that Knight Rider's not much better, but here's one storyline... Cab Company A is trying to drive Cab Company B outta business... So BA spends half the ep (...) (22 years ago, 9-Dec-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: Things I think about

(...) I can't see how you can like Night Rider over the A-Team. Liking the A-Team is like baseline requirement for being into Lego and rtlToronto! Every episode is like an rtlToronto event: the build a machine (machine gun armed forklift) to win a (...) (22 years ago, 9-Dec-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: More contest ideas...

(...) Everyone always talks about this line following or obstacle course thing. Having the container on top makes it more difficult and introduces ideas like motion dampening or control systems. (...) I think that's the point-you have to figure out (...) (22 years ago, 9-Dec-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: Steve H

(...) Fun, maybe. But not competition. It's like taking Jim Carry to the Olympics. It may be fun, but it doesn't make anyone run faster, or jump higher. Or maybe it does. I guess it's possible people have shown up at events thinking, "I just hope my (...) (22 years ago, 9-Dec-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: Things I think about

Things that went thru my mind on Saturday night around midnight were: How funny Robert DdNero really is (he was the host of SNL) Trying to decide what to watch--SNL or Silver Streak--SS being one of the best train chase movies ever (if there (...)   Things I think about

So Saturday night at midnight I'm siting in an injection moulding plant in Elberton, the Granite Capital of the World. Watching moulding machines make 8 parts every 10 seconds or so, tweaking our robots that yank them out. And I look at the whole (...) (22 years ago, 9-Dec-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)
