  Re: 32 long (again)

(...) Now I have this mental image of 5 rtlToronto guys showing up at the next copmetition with bubblejet printers built out of air tanks, RCX's and 32 long axles. :) Iain (20 years ago, 11-Feb-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: 32 long (again)

(...) Oh! that's a great point. I've always had problems with 12-longs not being long enough for doing this. I kind of forgot about it. Ok, now I want more. Derek (20 years ago, 11-Feb-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: 32 long (again)

(...) 32-long axles, and there is NO stop, it's a normal axle. The upcoming large technic crane seems to use one too. Seems like it's made of the same type of ABS as the others, so at that lenght its relatively flexible, and twistable. The best use (...) (20 years ago, 11-Feb-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  32 long (again)

is this the same 32 long in this set, as in the hockey ones? Also, I thought the hockey axles had "stops" part way down the axle. (URL) (20 years ago, 11-Feb-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: 32 Long Axles

(...) It's the only application where it's shown up so far. There hasn't really been any real world model for a Technic set that really demanded such a long distance...the only one that comes to mind would be the tail rotor of a helicopter or for (...)   Re: 32 Long Axles

(...) I tend to design assemblies with long shafts in a method that is analogous to how high power electricity is transmited over long lines. If you think about torque as amps and voltage as speed, it's just like that. Shafts don't (generally) care (...) (20 years ago, 10-Feb-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: 32 Long Axles

(...) The longer the axle is... the more likely it would be to twist under torque. I wonder how TLC has approached that issue.. perhaps a new plastic ? Ray (20 years ago, 10-Feb-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: 32 Long Axles

(...) I can bring some to show, they're pretty neat. I can't think of a project that I would use them for, but there might be some useful ones like the Mindstorms photocopier or some factory assembly stuff. Hrm. Wouldn't it be neat if there was a (...)   32 Long Axles

Anyone have one to bring to dinner? anyone selling those halfire wheels? I'd like a set. Chris (20 years ago, 10-Feb-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  You Guys...

Really, seriously, need to get a life. I've been.... occupied, and I come back to this. geesh. Lets reSTATE the rules. 1. I DONT need to see my name in the Subject line 2. to be filled 3. to be filled 4. NO RULE FOUR 5. I'm thinking of having a (...) (20 years ago, 10-Feb-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: This will make Chris happy....

(...) Hi Jeff, Hmmm, I don't see our name on the list, so I will add it. My son and I are coming down to represent the JLUG. We have this sweet little robot, she (yes she is a girl, as you can tell by her pretty clikits). She uses one RCX powered (...) (20 years ago, 9-Feb-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Hey Chris... Why don't you ever update your web site?

(URL) I quote.... "Nov 24, 1999" ....Over 5 years old! lame lame lame Now compare that to Dave K's "Sparky's Space" (URL) updated 02/07/2005 19:10:38" The guy even has a blog! (20 years ago, 9-Feb-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: This will make Chris happy....

(...) The attitude has always been, the 8" is a rule, but we'd rather have you at the event with a robot than have you not at the event, with a working bot sitting on a shelf. No one has ever bothered to measure robots, even though I bring a ruler. (...) (20 years ago, 9-Feb-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: This will make Chris happy....

(...) Awesome! I have one too, and also it may even work. :) It's called Donut, after my favourite character on Red vs. Blue. Re: 9" - you're allowed, so long as you make me another drawing! :) Just kidding. I still have those MD script sheets to (...) (20 years ago, 9-Feb-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: This will make Chris happy....

I have a 'bot! It might even work. I still have to program it, though, but I think the construction end is done. (...) Yep, mine too, maybe. I haven't checked if it fits in the 8" box, but it might on an angle. However, it definately will fit in a (...) (20 years ago, 9-Feb-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: This will make Chris happy....

(...) Woohooo! (...) I'm trying to have one done for the competition, but I can't say I've got very far with it. I do however, have a show and tell for Friday's dinner, on a large model I'm planning to build. I think for the first time, I'm going to (...) (20 years ago, 9-Feb-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  This will make Chris happy....

Well on Monday night I had a chance to finish building my bot :) It is a tad bigger the the 8" allotment, but you try using those skinny motorcycle wheels (the ones that come in the mindstorms kit) to sit side by side and still have enough space for (...)
