Well, I'm sure the Microsoft-bashers won't care, but I aced the
Server in the Enterprise exam today. That gives me another MCP
cert. I'll ace Workstation on Friday then move on to TCP/IP, Proxy,
and Net Essentials.
Probably go ahead and knock out IIS4 and IEAK5 after that since I've
used them both quite a bit and that'll make me MCSE+I.
Wondering if I should bother with A+? I think I can get UTK to
spring for the test, and I'm certain I could pass it (based on two
people I know who have passed it with little or no studying) but
that begs the question - what good is a certification someone can
pass just because he's been a computer geek since he was 12? At
least with the MCSE I feel I've had to learn quite a bit and do the
work for a while before acing the exams...

| (...) A+ is the certification equivalent of an entry level position. It's easy to pass if you know much of anything about basic PC/printer hardware and whatever the current Microsoft O/S is. (win3.1 when I took it) If you have any certifications (...) (25 years ago, 4-Oct-99, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

| A+ is worth it only if your employer pays for it. Doesn't get you anything as far as hiring purposes. If you've used computers since you were a child, you should pass this in 5 minutes. It's an easy test. When I hired a lot a year or so ago I was (...) (25 years ago, 4-Oct-99, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

| (...) So, how far are you now? I've had a four book set of the core exams in my collection for a while now, but the whole allergy-to-printing-ink thing sorta put a big damper on that. Here's to hoping that air-tight forced-air-circulation box I'm (...) (25 years ago, 10-Nov-99, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)
