  Re: Firefly Fans?

Status: Post-Pro. YES!!! I can't wait to see this when it comes out. There's been a great many rumors on this. Thanks for the info! -Stefan- (20 years ago, 17-Mar-05, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

(...) I never saw this show when it was on the air, but I just stumbled onto this and hoped it might be of interest to fans: (URL) if this is old news to you. Dave! FUT: OT.Geek only (20 years ago, 17-Mar-05, to lugnet.space, lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  I don't get it

Everyone knows that only my commendable humility exceeds my near-boundless wit, and yet I have stumbled upon a pun-reference that eludes me. I just read Arthur C. Clarke's short story "Patent Pending," copyright 1957, in which Clarke nicely (...) (20 years ago, 10-Mar-05, to lugnet.off-topic.pun, lugnet.off-topic.fun, lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: [OT] How large would Executor-class SSD appear?

Not too geeky for me! I love this sort of stuff; it helps us visualize our lego models. Accurate measurements help in the design process. Keep it up! (20 years ago, 15-Feb-05, to lugnet.starwars, lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: A goofy but probably very simple question

Re: Need help with annoying pop-ups in WinXP

(...) Hi, I would suggest installing and using Firefox for all web surfing. That should hopefully stop most of them from appearing. Its free (as in beer and as in press) and good!!! Here's a link (URL) Tim (20 years ago, 16-Feb-05, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: A goofy but probably very simple question

(...) Who needs knowledge when you have google? Solid hydrogen has a density of .088 g/cm^3. Which is, incidentally, about 10,000 times heavier than its gaseous form. (URL) Adrian (20 years ago, 16-Feb-05, to lugnet.off-topic.geek, FTX)

Re: [OT] How large would Executor-class SSD appear?

(...) This article: (URL) gives it as ~17.6km, and states: "2004: The reference book Inside the Worlds of Star Wars: Trilogy by James Luceno corrects the record of the Executor's length: nearly a dozen times the length of a star destroyer. In other (...) (20 years ago, 16-Feb-05, to lugnet.starwars, lugnet.off-topic.geek)

A goofy but probably very simple question

What would be the mass of a cubic centimeter of solid hydrogen? I ask because it occurred to me last week that the dry ice I was fiddling with weighed substantially more in solid form than as a gas (now there’s a groundbreaking scientific (...)   Re: [OT] How large would Executor-class SSD appear?

(...) 10-11 Imperial Class Star Destroyers long has been my understanding, which would mean that the Lego ISD would be about the length of a SSD when compared to the Mini ISD Leg Godt Travis Matheson (20 years ago, 16-Feb-05, to lugnet.starwars, lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: [OT] How large would Executor-class SSD appear?

(...) According to starwars.com it is 12.800 meters: "The size of a Super Star Destroyer has vacillated in numerous publications, starting with an eight-kilometer length in 1984's A Guide to the Star Wars Universe. The latest measurements peg the (...) (20 years ago, 15-Feb-05, to lugnet.starwars, lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: [OT] How large would Executor-class SSD appear?

(...) I dunno, it sounds like it makes sense. I mean, imagine how big a Boeing 747 looks at 50,000 feet (I get about 1/8th of a degree, assuming 70.7m length for a 747). Actually, considering how crasily long many clouds are, I wouldn't be suprised (...) (20 years ago, 15-Feb-05, to lugnet.starwars, lugnet.off-topic.geek)

[OT] How large would Executor-class SSD appear?

OK, this is WAY geeky, but I just thought I'd share... This was triggered by a cloud visible at sunset a couple of evenings ago. It was long and triangular, and took up about 5 "hand-widths" at arms length. I started thinking, how close (or far (...) (20 years ago, 15-Feb-05, to lugnet.starwars, lugnet.off-topic.geek)
