Not sure what you mean by downloadable.  If you mean you want to
download a reader that will do IMAP, Outlook Express does it, as does
Eudora 4, although I don't think there is a free version of Eudora
anymore, only a trial version of their Pro product.

Now, as to IMAP vs MAPI I didn't really think they were the same type
of thing.  IMAP is a type of mail that your server can dish out,
although it really isn't dishing it out because it is living on the
server and you just read it and move it around a bit.  POP3 is another
mail protocol, one that lets you download the mail to your machine
(although you can choose to leave it on the server or not).

I thought, and was probably wrong, that MAPI is some kind of mail API
that lets Word or other programs do things like mail documents.
