  Re: Problems with Christianity

(...) Ummmmm, errrrr, of course! I planned it that way - yeah, that's the ticket! It was a subtle commentary on debates about Christianity in general. Glad you caught the wry humor - I wondered if anyone would appreciate it. Bruce _ :-0 (Edvard (...) (25 years ago, 21-Dec-00, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

  Re: It finally happened.

(...) Actually, this has happened once before, believe it or not. Four years ago. I didn't have a digital camera back then, so I couldn't document it. We do have some "real" photos though. Those ones are pretty nasty. I don't think I want to show (...) (25 years ago, 21-Dec-00, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

  Re: It finally happened.

(...) Tell ya what, later tonight I'll try to do one like that. I was taking the pictures myself, so it was hard to do anything too elaborate, but I can do more if I have someone else take the picture. I'll keep you posted, like I know all of you (...)   Re: It finally happened.

(...) What good would that do? No, this is actually happening to my hands, It's part of the healing process. Wilson (25 years ago, 21-Dec-00, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

  Re: It finally happened.

(...) "Sire! The peasents are revolting!" "Yes, yes, I know. They've always been that way." "Yes, but now they're in rebellion!" (25 years ago, 21-Dec-00, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

Re: Benny Hill... the greatest milkman in the west? (Re: Uselessness of .debate)

(...) Just how long did it take y'all to figure out that Benny wasn't PC? I think I had that pegged about two minutes into my first viewing. Steve (25 years ago, 21-Dec-00, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

Re: All The Money In The World

(...) That would be unethical (which, I believe, is another thread)... However, it is also illegal - and we could debate the reasons why our society has chosen to make such activity illegal, or anything illegal for that matter. Any takers? -Jon :-) (...)   Re: It finally happened.

Dude, that's freakin' nasty. But I guess you only get to take a pic that that once in a lifetime. Now every time I see a halberd I will have this nasty association. Thanks a bunch. First Class. :) (...) (25 years ago, 21-Dec-00, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

  It finally happened.

All was going well in the fair land of LEGO, when all of the sudden, out of nowhere, the minifigs revolted. (URL) came in the night, halberds in hand. They started hacking and peeling the skin off my hands, rendering them useless, never able to work (...) (25 years ago, 21-Dec-00, to lugnet.castle, lugnet.off-topic.fun)

  Re: King, Queen & Jack

(...) Well, I haven't seen it before, but the answer is no. I'll refrain from explaining why, for folks still playing at home, but will offer a hint: 'might be true' doesn't hold any weight in logical puzzle solving. Think in terms of must be true (...)   Re: All The Money In The World

(...) your (...) Isn't this an illustration of the money multiplier effect? The most liquid instruments, M1, which include cash, checks, money orders, etc., have the highest "multiplier" because they circulate faster, increasing the value of money (...)   King, Queen & Jack

I read Dave's post the wrong way, I thought it one of those trick questions which go around at this time of year. It got me thinking about this one which I read a week or so ago: Only one of the following statements about a particular hand of cards (...) (25 years ago, 21-Dec-00, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

Re: All The Money In The World

(...) Yes it includes the time, but that money order you've got in your hand is simply "valued at" property. The money order itself is not actual money. One might say, however that you've increased the amount of VALUE in the town temporarily, but (...) (25 years ago, 21-Dec-00, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

Re: All The Money In The World

(...) Sure - The money is just changing forms. Think of it as making change. SRC Who is attempting to make a living doing basically that. :-) (25 years ago, 21-Dec-00, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

Re: All The Money In The World

(...) So in essence my question was phrased incorrectly--there isn't $1000 available in Boombaville; there's $1000 in printed cash, but there's no limit on "actual money." Got it. (...) Cool! That goes along nicely with my plan to start Xeroxing (...) (25 years ago, 21-Dec-00, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

Re: All The Money In The World

(...) It depends on how you measure "the total money available." If you measure it as the acutal cash (greenbacks, etc) - then no - you don't have the $10 anymore, and the total money hasn't increased. But if you measure "the total money available" (...)   Re: All The Money In The World

(...) Does that include the time between the purchase of the money order and its cashing? During that time it seems that there is $10 more in circulation--not actual, minted coinage, but legal tender nonetheless. Dave! Still talking to himself. (25 years ago, 21-Dec-00, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)
