That seems like good advice, though I’d be more inclined to believe you meant
it if you addressed Tim as “Tim”, the name he clearly prefers to be called,
rather than “Timmy”.

I am serious about our playground fights. I do call him Timmy (from South Park)
and will not anymore. I did this because of his derisive use of “sergeant.”
Anyone that was a soldier will know the real meaning of this rank (actually I
was a First Sergeant, huge difference). His use of the term in this fashion
deprecates the rank and lacks respect (as in poking fun at me) to the others
that have held or hold this rank and shoulder the responsibility. I do not
expect him to respect me and I know he does not, but it is a moniker of respect,
not something to be ashamed of when used in the correct fashion. In the world
situation we live, Tim should pick his words better when trying to torment me.
Too many young men and women who are sergeants are making unimaginable
sacrifices today. I do find it strange that no one else pointed this out as you
did on my use of “Timmy.” John is what I clearly prefer. John P
