Trolling is what you attempted immediately above: trolling for reactions on
the internet rather than trolling for fish in a lake.
A "strawman" is not a made-up term: from Encarta Dictionary, "unimportant
issue or person: an issue or person of little importance or relevance,
brought up to be shown as an easily defeatable idea or adversary."
