Which means the rest of us can get the last word? :-)
I think it is extremely important to be carefull when making mun of something
in the middle of a heated debate that it is clear that you are making fun. That
was not at all clear (and there is no recent debate history to rely on for you
Scott). I myself wasn't particularly riled, but others obviously were. If
debate is going to have a chance at remaining civil, we need to try extra hard
not to accidentally offend. On the flip side, we also need to try extra hard to
not be offended (or at least not get all fired up in public without trying to
determine on the side whether the person making the remark intended to be
offensive [and I include in "intent to be offensive" someone who claims "class
X of folk have no cause to be offended because we call them Y" when Y is
generally considered by class X of folk to be offensive]).
Just my thoughts, probably horribly wwrong as usual.
