Yes you do.

- "If anyone is spring loaded to the piss off position it is you."
- "Valium might be in the future for you, or high blood pressure.  You really
need to calm down."
- "remember 7 comes after 6 and before 8, perhaps that will help."

I could probably find more quotes if I hunted. You do seem to care that people
are angry with you. If you didn't, you'd just ignore the rude comments and focus
on the facts. Which you do sometimes. And sometimes not.

The inventories are messed up; I am trying to fix that.  Almost every one I
look at needs work.  I would just expect the effort to fix to be the same as
the effort to put the inventory on in the first place.

Well, it isn't. I believe (though I'm not sure) that accepting a new inventory
is FAR easier than accepting one of your corrections. Probably because new
inventories get submitted by people in machine-readable format, and the Peeron
maintenance interface is easier to deal with for new entries than fixes. Also,
as Dan has pointed out, there is *NO* way to prove that you've been any more
dilligent than anyone else, and a correction is essentially a contest of "who
should I trust". Compare that with a *new* inventory, where you're accepting
somebody's word as opposed to ... nothing.

I have made no attacks on anyone on this web site.

You have repeatedly accused Peeron of not caring about quality, which is false.
Should I quote you again? If you want to talk facts, just talk about where
they've made mistakes, and get focused on fixing them. Accusing someone of not
caring is, in my eyes, an attack.

I think that the umbrage comes from the fact I am finding so many mistakes in
the iconic peeron inventories.

To a certain extent, you're right. If you walked into a church service during a
Sunday sermon, and started yelling valid but insulting accusations at the
pastor, you probably WOULD get some negative feedback despite the validity of
your claims.

Instead of attacking me Davy why don't you spend your time
as a volunteer and help peeron get the facts straight.

Why don't you? How did your last post (the one I'm replying to) help? Know how
I'm trying to help? I'm trying to get you to focus on the issue at hand without
calling Peeron admins incompetant, lazy, disrespectful, or uncaring. I'm trying
to get you to ignore the emotional side of it, because if you DO, it will quiet
down the angry noise on Lugnet, and make Peeron more likely to accept your help.

Right now? I think you've ruined your chances of becoming an assistant Peeron
admin by about 100%, thanks to your attitude. Maybe not, I dunno. In a perfect
world, it would be based purely on your competance and drive, at least the
latter of which has been proven. But as we've seen in the Lego world (and
elsewhere), part of administration is being respectable in the eyes of the
community. And that's something you're losing. If people don't respect you, they
won't listen to you, and they'll try to fight you. If you drop the whole
emotional accusation part, maybe you can earn some respect. And maybe your
corrections will go through faster. Heck, if you showed the right attitude and
showed some technical prowess, maybe you could even earn an admin spot on
Peeron. And then things would be peachy keen.

The only comment I have made about peeron is that they are slow.

Apparently, I *DO* need to quote you:

- "they do not appear to want to spend the time to truely produce a quality
product."
- "I don't know if they now have sponsers so they do not care about the quality
of the product."
- "I have nothing to gain by this, Peeron does if they care."
- "Dan won't even answer an email."
- "there is little concern at Peeron (except for Clark) with regard to the
correctness of the inventories and posting new pictures of sets and parts."
- "I just feel that you would want the listing to be the best they could be and
I can help if someone on your side is willing to put the effort into it."
- "they have never answered an email from me when I pointed out a mistake here
and there."

As to how I feel about people saying things about me: I have faced gun fire
in Iraq during Desert Storm, stood on the Sinai and watched Arab troops
lobbing motors our way, and spent a year in Viet Nam watching out for hidden
taps, explosions and average Vietnamese people shooting us.  What ever a
bunch of people playing with plastic toys (which includes me) say won't hurt
my feelings.

Look, if you didn't care, why would you be posting? You care about Peeron being
correct, and you've said that. Multiple times. What good does it do to reply to
me? I know why I'm trying to reply to *YOU*, but why you're replying to *ME*,
except insofar as you're trying to vindicate yourself, because you feel hurt or
threatened by what I've said, is beyond me.

You seem to be far too thin skinned.

I wouldn't say that. I'm responsive, to be sure. To think that you've somehow
injured me would be too presumptious and incorrect. BUT, to the extent you're
defensive about yourself or Peeron's accuracy levels, I'm defensive about your
attitude.

If this is arrogant so be it.  You seem to be arrogant too.

In some ways, that's likely true. I've personally been close to the Peeron and
Lugnet adminship for a long time, and I even have some degree of abilities on
each site, so my position is a little different than most. And I'm pretty
confident in what I've told you. If you want to perceive that as arrogance, I
suppose I could agree with that.

But then again, right back atcha! Your posts have a swaggering arrogance about
them, the way you tote your age, military service, OCD, and staggeringly large
collection size.

But then again, I'm not sure why you felt the need to call me arrogant. If, like
you've suggested, you want to get over the whole emotional thing and start
working towards something positive, you've spent an inordinantly large amount of
time being counterproductive.

And you are probably the knucklehead that sent me the picture.

Calling me arrogant is fine. I think that's possibly warranted. But if this
"picture" was of the sort that I'm assuming it was (probably crude and
degrading), this accusation was baseless, rude, and flatly wrong. Apparently,
you don't know me.

DaveE

If it was not you who sent the picture, I am sorry.
I do agree Now that I have said some things that I should not have.  Those are
the examples you quoted above.  I was fustrated at months of waiting for changes
to appear and Dan didn't answer my emails even before all this started.  I
believe that the first one I sent asked if they received the corrections.  If I
remember correctly, I did ask again, in reference to 001.  When I posted on
Lugnet Dan said it must have got stuck in his spam.  He has said that to me on
on Lugnet three or four times, so I was fustrated.  When all is said and done I
am just trying to help.  I will forgo comments and take your critism to heart.
You seem to be rather level headed.
The only reason I memtion the size of my collection is that I am able to check
these sets with the real set and instructions.  It is a once in a lifetime
opportunity for Peeron and if I did not care I would not take the extra time to
send these in.
