Tradition would say that Scott was being sarcastic, but maybe he wasnt. Either
he honestly wanted my opinion, or perhaps it was rhetorical but he felt there
was a point to it. I already placed my qualifier (for the most part) but,
yes, my experience is that America is the home of the brave, etc, for blacks,
too. If he asked me 40 years ago, and Id have another opinion, however.

Hardly perfect (look how Bush got elected). Has its faults. But it
makes my short list of countries Id be willing to live in. Consider that
my Irish ancestors voted with their feet on what they thought of Great
Britain. :-)

He was just teasing me for the German name - I have little doubt he guessed it
was my mothers side of the family I was talking about. The German side is from
