Oh, really? Then why was the UN sending weapons inspectors into Iraq in the
first place? Not much of a memory, Mr Marchetti. They went to verify that
weapons were destroyed, not to verify whether they existed or not.

Dr. Arthur, Kooties, and myself (to
name the few I am certain of) all questioned the veracity of the claims
surrounding the issue of WMD.
We didn’t doubt that the U.S. had previously sold Iraq chemical agents, we
doubted that they were still useful in terms of their limited shelf-life.

Please provide cites that those chemicals came from our government. I’ll bet
you can’t because they didn’t. (but try checking France or Germany. William
Safire wrote a blistering piece that attests to this fact)

The main reason for going into Iraq was TO DEPOSE SADDAM HUSSEIN.

We didn’t feel too threatened on Sept 10th, 2001 either. We will never know
what unspeakable crimes we thwarted by deposing SH.

Even I would prefer to think our president is better than this -- but it’s

That’s why I opposed the war in the first
place, the evidence was not in and did not seem very trustworthy. The last
thing I want is to give people another reason to hate the U.S., terrorism is
still very much an issue and this wag the dog story hasn’t helped -- it has
perhaps hurt us irrevocably.

This is what you and other liberals just can’t seem to get-- the world hates us
regardless of what we do. In the eyes of the world, we are in a lose-lose
situation. Deal with that. It is not our job to please the world, but to
preserve our Republic. The dirty little secret is that as we prosper, so
prospers the world.

I just hope that the people of the world understand that we U.S. citizens are
just as much hostage to our leaders stupid decisions as they are hostage to
their respective leaders’ stupid decisions. We mere voters are hardly in the
“driver’s seat” of political power.

If the world believes the polls, most americans basically don’t care if the
war was justified. I think Shrub is relying on that fact.

That’s because the reason was so painfully clear. SH was a madman who was in
control of WMD and was sympathetic to terrorists. The solution was obvious.
Remove him. We did. The Iraqis thank us. We did the world a service, whether
they appreciate it or not.
