  Re: Rumor control?

(...) Interesting. Out of curiosity, what percentage of heavy industry is located in the US? Or is all that CO2 produced by cars? Do you have a breakdown of other leading national contributors to atmospheric CO2? (...) Really? Every week? Under what (...) (24 years ago, 20-Nov-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: Lets keep politics out of Lego

(...) OK Larry, I shall give you a silver star for trying. The key word to search for, I suppose, is "doctorate". It would have revealed: (BTW - EPSRC funded my doctorate at a cost of, in today’s $, $200,000 over 3 years. This focused on defining (...) (24 years ago, 20-Nov-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: Lets keep politics out of Lego

(...) Well, I just ran a scan on all of Lugnet, using PhD as the search term, and there's no post from Scott saying what his doctorate is in. I also tried just searching debate and using Doctor, again, nothing relevant, then I tried Doctor and (...) (24 years ago, 20-Nov-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: Lets keep politics out of Lego

(...) Sorry Scott but even I started to be interested in..:-) Really, what is your area of PhD?..:-) Selçuk (24 years ago, 20-Nov-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: Arrggh!

(...) Ok, but in either case, *they* had no license. (24 years ago, 20-Nov-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: CODE WORD TIME

(...) Maybe it was just the education system that let them down... (...) or the Stupid President? Which would you rather have? --DaveL (24 years ago, 20-Nov-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: Lets keep politics out of Lego

(...) It is an English thing - not UK. You'll also find that a good deal of England still harks back to WW2, and loves reminding the Germans about who one. The feeling in Scotland is a little more mature. I'll quote one of you countrymen to sum up (...) (24 years ago, 19-Nov-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: Lets keep politics out of Lego

(...) Agreed. There is no "monolithic" UK view, (just as there is no "US" view either). However there certainly is a bit of a running gag among many people I talked with about disliking the French and french ways. The UK and France are close allies (...)   Re: Election Fraud? (wa Re: CODE WORD TIME)

I used to live in Broward county and work in Palm Beach county. Both ARE heavily Democratic... and both are home to a lot of very clueless people. There is no correlation implied there, of course. Remember, it was in Broward that a little old lady (...) (24 years ago, 19-Nov-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: Rumor control?

(...) USA = 3% of the population. USA = 25% of CO2 production. Right now, I hear, the USA is using so much oil that is is forced to buy ~90% of Iraqs oil - despite the fact that UK/USA drops a tonne of bombs on the country per week. In that sort of (...)   Re: Lets keep politics out of Lego

(...) Just because that dirge was written in the UK, it does not follow that it is the UK view... and I assume you are not shallow enough to think otherwise. There is a recent history of England and France exhibiting a little friendly animosity. (...) (24 years ago, 19-Nov-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: Rumor control?

(...) Are you insinuating or asserting that Christianity is a "cult"? Any reasons, or just being a troll? -John (...) (24 years ago, 19-Nov-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Election Fraud? (wa Re: CODE WORD TIME)

(...) The people weren't too stupid to vote incorrectly, they voted fine. All of the hype of the butterfly ballot is subterfuge. The spike for Buchanan, I believe, will be shown to have been ballots (incorrectly) stuffed for Gore. A statistician (...) (24 years ago, 19-Nov-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: Rumor control?

(...) Oh hey! I like that. It'll drive the Republicans up the wall. Almost worth it from that standpoint alone! :-) Of course, they'd be worrying needlessly since the first female elected president will be a conservative (not because Republicans are (...)   Re: Rumor control?

(...) And presumably the Republicans. (...) Like Christianity? Chris (24 years ago, 18-Nov-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: From Harry Browne

(...) I too think that. Self defense doesn't even need to go to court. (...) Your opinion is noted and disagreed with. For two reasons: First, I think there is nothing inherently wrong with vigilante justice, if it is rightly applied. And I'll be (...) (24 years ago, 18-Nov-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: Rumor control?

(...) Well, all I can say to that is look out for Hillary! for prez in '04 (why does she get to use an exclamation point?? is it because the mere mention of her name is scary?) If you thought the conspiracy theorists were having fun now, just wait. (...) (24 years ago, 18-Nov-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: Rumor control?

(...) Now THAT'S hitting below the belt. :-) We got railroaded in NY when the Howard Stern fan club took over the convention and nominated him for Gov but that's a pretty big exception (and we changed the convention rules to prevent that from (...)   Re: Rumor control?

(...) And I'm sure Republicans always probe their candidates fully... I'm not even sure that I trust that some Libertarians don't follow the herd sometimes. Frank (24 years ago, 18-Nov-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: CODE WORD TIME

(...) I saw an e-mail today which described how the ballots looked when in the machines. Apparently some ballots lined up fairly well, and others didn't at all. With all due respect, I'm unwilling to call people stupid without having seen the actual (...) (24 years ago, 18-Nov-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)
